FABACians in the news.

Saturday's Gleaner featured not one but two FABACians grinning from the pages.  We're  newsmakers!
And while we're chatting, I know of a mid-70s 'roller' for sale in the local area.  Price is in the high teens and the car's in great shape.  Call Harley at 385-1889

"The loader dug a path to your car. How we're going to get it in to the shop from here is another question."

Sunbeam for sale — alas, Bruce is not interested.

Thanks to Johanna for passing this along.

This 1966 Sunbeam Tiger MkIA (chassis B382000992LRXFE) was converted into a street-legal, SCCA rule book following racer about seven years ago, though according to the seller has seen minimal track time since. Sale includes its original 260, and power currently comes from a 302 bored .060 over to 310 cubic inches. Quality of work looks good, and the ad describes the car as very quick. Saint Louis, Missouri with a $39,900 BIN. More here.

Morgan Three Wheeler

Dave:
A fifteen minute video of a ride in a Morgan three wheeler.  I used to have nerves of steel when it came to driving very fast in cars and on motorcycles but I think my age is beginning to show.  Don’t think I’d like this trip!

From the YouTube description:
Ride with us on the fastest single run of the meeting.
When the rev counter needle is past 12 o'clock we are
over 100 mph in top gear (4th).

FABAC February Meeting Report

The second act of 'Dinner at Luna Pizza' was even better than the first act last month. Most of us took Gary's advice and ordered the pork chops which just happened to be on special that evening.  Most of us also took home a good size doggie bag.  And yes, the leftover chop was just as good the next day.
The business was a quick rehash of last months trip plans and suggestions and was short.  There was no new news and we still have no idea when we'll be able to drag Kelvin's Mercedes out of the snow bank and into the garage for repairs.  Due to a gathering of non-FABACians looking over our shoulders, John decided to postpone the quiz till next month.
Next month's dinner will be at Isaac's Way on Queen St on the 18th of March.

Bob's Winter Project

Under sunny (but c-c-c-old) skies, I boiled the head of the Jag to facilitate valve guide removal. It went well and the turkey cooker will be featured this summer during our upcoming corn boil (don't worry, I'll clean the pot).  The guides popped out easily with some tapping on Ian's valve guide whacker-outer tool.  While I wait for the first shipment of engine parts I've been infected by Ian and am doing some grinding, sanding and maybe a little polishing.  I've also taken the opportunity to blow some money on fancy tools I'll probably never use again, but...

A winter challenge

Hello FABACians.

We are all cabin bound and buried up to our piston rings in snow so it is time for a challenge.

Without looking in books, opening the comments section here or drifting thru Google  for help follow these steps:

1.      Open your word processing program and write down every British car Marque/manufacturer/builder you can remember. A time limit of two hours should be sufficient to torture you just enough. Bonus point if you can name a model (only one per marque please) for each of the makers.
2.      Add up and post your score  2 points for each unique marque you list and one bonus point for each marque that has one model  I.E.-  MG – MGA =3 points.  Points will be deducted by the Master of the Marque for folks that 1. make up names, 2. are all spelt correctly, 3.are done alphabetically or 4. otherwise look fishy.  Bonus points for particularly obscure Marque will be considered.
3.      Copy these and then post them all into the comments section with your total score.  Please include your name so prizes can be awarded J and mortification cast on those who do poorly L.

Good luck  and remember no peaking.
Signed   Master of the Marque

An outfit for the true car enthusiasts

We just went through a wearable art exhibit in the Auckland War Memorial museum. I thought some of the members might get a kick out of this photo.

Dave and Pat
Hi Dave:
I know this has no relation whatsoever to LBCs but some are interested in anything mechanical and automobile related.  This might fit that definition.  J
