FABAC January Meeting Notes by Joe H.

The group met on the 20th of January in one of the private rooms at Issacs Way restaurant, about twenty were in attendance.   A discussion was had about events that we are planning for the warmer times.
  • I spoke about the BMF in Windsor and that I and at least a couple of others are planning to stay overnight at Ralph's B&B on the Thursday night before the weekend event, get the ferry in the morning and cross to NS.  We are doing this because the ferry leaves quite early in the morning now.  The upside of this is a nice evening in Saint John on Thursday and then plenty of time for a nice drive through the valley to Windsor on Friday.  Barring of course any clutch slave cylinder issues or other mechanical difficulties, or wrong turns and getting lost issues from past trips.   We would love others to join us on this trip.
  • A lobster run was talked about for the spring. Jim volunteering to find one that would be suitable.
  • The possibility of a run to the sugar bush as in years past in the spring was also discussed but nothing firmed up
  • Kelvin advised that he will be organizing a St. Georges day event again, with the possibility of a short Rally to start the event.  It will be pot luck as in the past.
  • John volunteered to organize the Kingston Peninsula  run once again.
  • Joanna and Bruce advised that the Harvey Pub has been renovated and would be a great spot for a run in the summer.  They will advise further in the future.
  • There was a discussion about the Christmas dinner and the consensus was that it was a good one and removed the stress on any of the club members from organizing this big event.
  • John advised the group before his quiz that he would be going in the hospital for bypass surgery in the near future and the group wished him will with that.  He then conducted his quiz, with Kelvin and I given a -4 point handicap.  We again managed to do well and were advised that our handicap is increased to -5 the next time.
  • Next Meeting February 17th at Sam Snead's (Kingswood Golf Club)
Cheers

Another request from busy-beaver Ralph H.

After great success getting the car seats he needed, Ralph now asks for your help with the following:

Now the hunt is to acquire (appropriate, steal, borrow, buy, obtain, purchase) a decent quality 36 to 48 inch metal brake good for 20 to 18 gauge cold rolled steel.  I want to fold new floor pans for the Jensen. Maybe somebody has one in the corner of the garage.  Would love to buy outright or borrow with payment.  Please let me know with reply to holyoke@nbnet.nb.ca

Great car connections

Just received this from Dave Fram. Amazing how this car has survived and is now on auction for $2,000,000 to $ 3,000,000 in Arizona. Owned by John Risley and driven by him and Dave at Debert back in our racing days. I raced at Ste Croix in Quebec in the same race the day John had the brake failure and went off the track at the end of the long back straight at 120 mph +
Extremely lucky no injuries.

Now here's something you don't see every day.

For all those LBC Sedan owners out there.  Never question the capabilities of our little cars to haul A**.

Of course a Jag Mark II or Mark IX  is the way to go.  But even a humble Mini does the job.

Some local flavour

Greetings from Marga-Rita and MexBob

You can watch 2015 Goodwood Revival COMPLETE days!

I discovered today that all three days of the Goodwood revival are on YouTube as complete days, nine hours of coverage each day including all the races, forums with all the old race drivers that were there.  I'm watching on my smart TV and its all in high def—good way to waste some cold long winter days.
Cheers.
