This actually happened to an Englishman, in France, who was totally drunk.

A French policeman stops the Englishman's car and asks if he has been drinking.

With great difficulty, the Englishman admits that he has been drinking all day, that his daughter got married that morning, and that he drank champagne and a few bottles of wine at the reception, and many single malt scotches there-after.

Quite upset, the policeman proceeds to breath test the Englishman and verifies that he is indeed completely hammered.

He asks the Englishman if he knows why, under French law, he is going to be arrested.

The Englishman answers with a bit of humor, "No sir, I do not! But while we're asking questions, do you realize that this is a British car and my wife is driving on the other side?"

(Herb passed along this bit of humour.)

FABAC members and health

We have two FABAC members who have recently been diagnosed with cancer. I know that many of you know them and might otherwise not have received the news.

Last week, I was talking with Sharon Pond who indicated that Terry (1973 MGB) is currently in the early stages of chemo treatment. Many of you will remember the wonderful meetings and eatings at their house out past New Maryland in Nasonworth.

Today, I received a phone call from Lise to inform us that Alex (TR6) has been in the hospital since last Tuesday, during which time they discovered cancer in his internal organs. Alex has declined treatment and, typical of Alex and Lise, maintain a healthy and positive attitude, while remaining realistic. Lise expects that Alex will be discharged from the hospital by this Wednesday.

To both Terry and Alex, your FABACian friends send tons of positive energy your way.

E15 ethanol is coming, like it or not. Here’s what you need to know

Members may be interested in the linked article from Hagerty describing the US plan to increase ethanol in gasoline to 15% and make it legal to dispense year round. This is concerning to us driving old cars. Also, the article lists a site, pure-gas.org, that lists gas stations that offer ethanol-free gasoline in the US and Canada. There are no listings for Fredericton. Perhaps some members know of some in our area and can add them to the pure-gas site.

One sweet new Morgan

At the recent Geneva Car show, Morgan unveiled its latest model—the Plus 6. That's right, gone are the V8s and in with a beautiful 3 litre BMW straight 6. It's the first Morgan that I would even consider trading my +4 SS for.

Bob's report from last night's meeting

We met at (in?) the newish loft at what was formerly known as The Vault but is now Gahans.
  • With Barb and Gary stuck in Florida due to the grounding of all aircraft (Most of you recognize this as Trump-talk. - David), David took the helm and announced that he hates retirement after only one day.  Don't worry folks, I'll talk to him. (Talk all you want, Bob. I've been retired for 22 years and its the best job I've ever had! - David)
  • We'll visit the sugar shack in Dumfries the first week of April.  This will be a mid-week run and all are advised to watch this space.
  • The St. George's day event on the 23rd of April (Easter Monday) (Actually, April 23 is a Tuesday so someone needs to correct the date.  - David (updated April 22nd)) will also see our monthly meeting held. (At Kelvin's of course. - David)
We all enjoyed the fare and service under the new ownership save for one point.  The loft is next to the ceiling and it ECHOS loudly.  All sounds are amplified and we didn't realize how strong the effect was until we left and found that it was much quieter on the ground floor.
(David here for his last comment: Our table was a little ways away from Bob E. so was much quieter than Bob reported.  ;-)

See you there!!

Bob E passed along these two interesting sites

The good: the only Tumblr blog not  dedicated to porn.  Excellent photos of vintage racing.  Most are captioned with dates and names.

The bad and ugly: Any comments I have would get my mouth washed out with soup.
