Clarification re Windsor British car show. Good News!

Thanks to Ralph, we have a positive clarification regarding who can attend the one day show. I had quoted the Facebook posting which said “BATANS members only”. Ralph contacted the organizer and this is what Ralph sent to me:

Message from Thys who is organizing the show
"This is what the text states: Attendees would be BATANS members only plus members of the NB, PEI and Cape Breton British Car Clubs.
If you are a member of any of these clubs you are welcome to attend.
Registration opens May 1st.
Messages were send out to these clubs to forward to their members.
There may also be a max. limit.
Let me know if you still have questions.
Cheers, Thys"

So, that’s good news for FABACians. Let’s organize a convoy!

British Motoring Festival Windsor

"...lots of people have been wondering if there will be a 2022 British Motoring Festival. The organizing committee has decided for this year to make it a BATANS members only event with no public viewing."

(a quote from their Facebook page)

Gerald Elliott's Workshop

During our Tuesday Zoom meeting two weeks ago, Gerald said that he would send some photos of his shop, the Cortina engine upgrade and the Lotus rebuild. I can’t believe the organization and cleanliness of their shop!

Quebec City Tour Update

The organizers of the Rendez-vous British Quebec car show have informed me that they only allow British car makes in the show.  For our purpose, it will be referred to as our Quebec City Tour, not the Rendez-vous British Quebec Tour.  Whether or not FABAC members with British makes show their cars, that is only one aspect of the tour.  The drive itself, the visit to the “old city”, the comradery and the many activities available will make for an enjoyable time regardless of the sports car you drive.

A second point to be made is that for those who are going to enter their car in the show on Saturday, entrants must have their cars on site between 8 o’clock and 12 o’clock.

Please keep this tour in mind as what should be a great trip for all FABAC members and please do not hesitate to offer suggestions on the organization and planning.

Phil sent along a bunch of these. I'll post a couple at a time over the coming days/weeks.

March Meeting Report

A small group of us 'Zoomed' for the March meeting and exchanged a few bits....

  • Chris Daigle talked about the upcoming Car show in Quebec City ( https://rvbq.org/en/ ).The plan is for a three or four day trip with two days in the city.
  • Several members will be attending the Sussex car swap meet on the 28th and 29th of May.
  • BATANS will be passing through the province late in the season and has invited us to join them at the Sussex balloon festival.  This is a great car show that we used to attend years ago.
  • I (Rob Earl) will (loosely) organize the spring lobster run to Lorneville as soon as the season opens.
  • The April meeting will be held on the nice day near the end on April so that we can have an outdoor picnic.

New licence plate bracket

Well I had my first bike ride of the year. I had Ian down to drill three holes in my rear finder of my bike to put my license plate bracket on. As I was too nervous to do it myself in case I made a mistake. A new fender for my bike costs between $2,500 and $3,000. And as usual, Ian did a great job. Now ready for the summer riding season for the bike.
Have a great meeting tonight.

Cheers
John

New CV joints

Can’t wait to put them on. Once the weather starts getting a little warmer, I’ll be out in the garage putting them on.

Hopefully before 15 April.
