Whistling Billy

Dwight thought you might get a kick out of this. Whistling Billy, a 1905 steam powered racing car built by the White company.

Ralph's S-Type on eBay

Finally took the plunge and listed the S Type on eBay for very reasonable price.  She has never looked so good.

An oldie but a goodie. :-)

From Joe H:
This is an old one, that I looked at again after my recent wiring trials.  Some in the club may have not seen it.  The best humor is in the questions.
This was originally an ebay listing and the questions were ones posted by people viewing it there.
Very funny.

Happy Anniversary, FABAC!

It was twelve years ago today that a great group of LBC lovers met to form our wonderful club.

Report on February Meeting - Bob E.

Despite the threat of (yet) another winter pounding,  FABAC presented a quorum to the Hilltop restaurant on Prospect Street. Since it's been a while since we last met, members were quite boisterous as we caught up and exchanged lies.   As always, Gary quieted us down and quickly got to business.  It looks like the driving season will be a good one as we already have a full spring calendar.
  • The annual St. Patrick's day bash will once again be hosted by the lovely and talented Jim & Lorraine Woodford at their place on the 9th of March.  PLEASE RSVP by the 7th of March.  By the way, this will also be our monthly meeting.
  •  Larry and Sandy will host a potluck at their place in Stanley on the 27th (maybe the 28th?) of July.
  • Kelvin will host the (by now) annual St. George's Day bash at his place (now in Noonan) on the 27th of Apr.  I'm hoping that this will also be an opportunity to inspect his new paint booth (hint, hint).
  • John and Shirley Ann have organized a sugar shack outing for the 6 or 7th of April.  Lots of sticky fun for sure!
  • Stephen will be arranging the lobster run in May.
John stumped the crowd with another round of brain teasers on the subject of British car lore.  It is now agreed that people who where born in the UK will have a handicap applied during future challenges.   ...and to round out the evening, Tim was serenaded by all as he blew out the candle(s) on his birthday pie.  We had the good taste to NOT ask him his age; not that he would have revealed it anyway.

Patriotic Dog Nap

Our Blue Heeler Levi loves the British rug in the Pub !!! The breed is from Australia and therefore part of the Commonwealth !!!

A little chuckle for you.

Sounds as if Lucas was the engineer on the wiring job.

A Kansas farm wife called the local phone company to report her telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the few occasions, when it did ring, her dog always moaned right before the phone rang.
The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile lady. He climbed a telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house.
The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned and the telephone began to ring. Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found:
  1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire with a steel chain and collar.
  2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose.
  3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signalling current when the number was called.
  4. After a couple of jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate.
  5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring.
Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning.

This is a NEW Morgan...

A very interesting clip: Stirling Moss and Jag C-Type

It could be called "A great old car and a great old driver". Moss signed on with Jaguar when he was 20 years old—60 years ago! He loved the C-Type. Check it out here.
(Thanks to John B. for passing this along.)

A wonderful set of photographs of rare/beautiful automobiles

Vic D. brought this to my attention—he thought it looked a bit like one of our Sunday drives. Yeah, right! Anyway, definitely worth looking at. Check them out here.

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for MicroCars.

There is an incredible auction of a collection from the Weiner Microcar Museum. If you just want a sampling, go here. However, if you want to see and read about microcars in what I think is the BEST article I have ever seen, check out this wonderful production. 832 pages {screens) of excellent photos and write-ups. (the best stuff starts on page 86 if you don't want to plow through a lot of model cars and collectible trinkets. There is so much good information AND so many models I have never heard of before. Enjoy!

Bob E makes us all feel bad.

What do the obsessive compulsive do when the weather sucks?
Combine...
  • a wheeled tool box bought for a ridiculously low price at a scratch & dent sale
  • an older small tool drawer obtained from a friend
  • several sheets of stiff packing foam
  • few more sheets of cheapo foam floor tiles
  • bunch of X-Acto knives
  • a few spare days
 ...and tada!
