Where you could relax in an on-site dorm room whilst a grand award banquet was being prepared for you and just a floor or two beneath you? And where you could crash afterwards, having survived the banquet but not so much the live entertainment?

Well, the dream will soon be a reality. And if you register online or get your registration letter postmarked prior to July 1st, you will save money.

Woodsmen’s Museum Run a Success - for most!

The Miramichi Tour started with 7 cars, but ended up with 5, 1 headed home with a mechanical issue, one followed for backup. Nothing daunted, the others headed toward Minto. It was a beautiful tops down day, not too hot, not too cold! En route the 5 visited the interment camp on rte 10, for some pictures and then to Tim's in Minto.
After the appropriate things happened, we headed towards Doaktown, through Hardwood Ridge, Briggs Corner and Gaspereau Forks.
We had a small informal challenge in the form of a 'Digital Scavenger Hunt' where there was a list of things to photograph en route, such as an Orange Roof, a rusty Chevy and a White Pine forest, plus about 15 or so other things and we had fun with that! We encountered a large mama moose with a calf not too far from Doaktown, but I never got a picture! In Doaktown we stopped for a picnic lunch in a park, just on the Fredericton side of Doaktown. There we had a great lunch, some fun discussion and we headed to Boiestown to the Woodsman's Museum. It is interesting to see how our forefathers did things, and to see some early technology! ( like make and break gas engines).
From the Museum we headed towards Fredericton, each on our own way. It was a delightful day, and thanks for all who attended!

Additional note from David N:
Not too far into the run Alex's TR6 decided to misbehave--as in stop running! It was decided for him to limp back to Nackawic accompanied by David N. in Carolyn's TR6 and others would continue on the run. As Enzo Ferarri would say, "Always electrical" referring to what goes wrong with cars. It was discovered by the time we reached the Ring Road that the problem was not going to go away. Gary and I, who have had frustrating times with our TR6s in the past have shared the common culprit. There still are many "new" distributor rotors (or buttons) out there that are defective. Alex had installed a new one to insure a trouble-free run. So much for good intentions. Once the old rotor was installed, the engine sprang to life and purred the rest of the way home. By the time we got to Keswick Ridge it was clear that Alex was not going to have any further problems. His phone call from home confirmed that.
I was tempted to go out and about and track down some fake photos for the contest that you will hear about later. i decided not to even though there was some beautiful fresh road-kill that could easily have won a prize.

Meet at Canon’s Cross for 10:00 am Departure.
Fredericton to Briggs Corner on Rte 10.
Briggs Corner to Gaspereau Forks on Rte 116
Rte 123 to Doaktown.
Rte 8 to Boiestown.
Visit Woodsmen’s Museum in Boiestown and have Picnic Lunch (if weather permits).
If weather does not permit meal will be in a Fredericton restaurant.
Route 8 back to Fredericton.
There will be a few P&T stops along the way.
Remember to bring digital cameras for some en route fun.

Report and Photos from Meeting at Porter's Diner
Twenty-four of us crowded into Porter's Diner on the Hanwell Road Wednesday evening. (Actually there was lots of room but it sounds good doesn't it?) Because Porter's is a 'fries' kinda place, pretty much everyone ordered something with 'em and yes, they lived up to their reputation. With a Windsor show closing in everyone was reminded to register early. Curry A., fresh from a trip to Europe, suggested that the party at his place in late July be a dog-n-burger affair and that everyone could bring salads. This get together is to host the Ontario Healey club as they pass through. Tim R. suggested a dance at the Oromocto Gala days. Steve W forwarded a suggestion for a run to Bar Harbour next spring. Just then someone pointed out that we had the Bobsey Twins in attendance as Steve W. And Jim B. where wearing the same shirt! Once the joking had subsided Curry again took the floor and discussed the new daytime running light law in Nova Scotia. It seems that folks are being fined $175 for not being so equipped. Remember to turn those lights on when crossing the border! It was decided that the next meeting will be in Dumfries at the newly re-opened Moonlight Inn.
Just in... Dennis Williams has been ill lately (nothing serious) and sends his regrets at not being around. His engine lost something big recently and he's awaiting a verdict from his mechanic.

That's right, folks, another month has swung by!
We're at Porter's Diner on 1761 Hanwell Road at 6:00pm although with the nice weather you can expect some pretty little cars arriving around 5:30.

I sure was enjoying the lower gas prices. I'd won (or lost) the latest round of 'gas gauge Bingo' with myself and had just finished putting 60 bucks worth of the cheap stuff into baby. I knew that it would take a little less than half of that for a round trip to Saint John making it a thirty dollar trip. I thought it quite reasonable. I paid for my gas, checked the lottery ticket we buy together at work ("Darn, gotta go in tomorrow.") then went out to wait for the gang to pass the Burton gas station. What I'd assumed would be at most a fifteen minute wait turned into three quarters of an hour.

Let's do a club drive to Saint John on Sunday, 13th of June and visit with our Fundy Chapter. (Looks like the weather is going to be sunny)
A) Gather at Tim's on the Exhibition grounds, Smythe St. and leave around 2:00 PM via Dundonald St. (East) to Lincoln Rd. and Rt. 102 to Grand Bay area. Take Rt. 177 to Martinon, turn left on to Westfield Road, then left on to Manawagonish Rd. to Main St. Cross Reversing Falls Bridge to Douglas Ave. 60/80 Homeport B/B
B) 1st. rest stop-- Coytown Shell Service Station, Rt 102
2nd rest stop-- Brundage Point Tourist Bureau, Rt 177

UPDATE from webmaster David: It stopped raining. The Morgan and an MGTD are going to be there. Let's get the LBC in a row!The Thursday evening car get-together down at the river by the Queen St Legion is now back!
After languishing up in a hot and boring parking lot for two years, calmer heads have seen the light and brought it back to the waterfront.

A little Automobile Show for Pine Grove Father's Day Event
A year ago, four of our members responded to this request -- perhaps we can do it again this year:
Pine Grove Nursing Home would like their male residents to celebrate Fathers Day Weekend on Friday 18 June between 10.30 and 11.00 am by seeing a display of 4-5 British sports cars. Would you be willing to attend, and suggest a couple of other retired FABACians to join us? A willingness to chat about the respective cars and maybe provide some sound effects would be good!
The display would be outside the Pine Grove front entrance, subject to fine weather, with the residents in wheelchairs accompanied by nursing home staff. If you would like to participate please leave a comment or email me.
