Report on Sept. 15th FABAC meeting by Gary

No less then 22 showed up for our regular monthly meeting with this one being held at the Schnitzel Parlour on Woodstock Road. Many thanks for Jim and Ellie for finding this new restaurant for us. The Germain cuisine was excellant with varoius Greman food includung snitzels, wonderful fresh salads and desserts that put the S in sweet and much more!

The minutes from our meeting:

  i. Bob Bentley from PEI would like to make contact with all MGA owners. His intention is to form a Maritime MGA group. If there are MGA members in our club who would be interested please let me know and I'll provide you Bob's email address.

ii. Bob is also interested in having another get together on the Island. This won,t be so much of a car show as a get together over a BBQ or something similar. He asked if we would be interested as a club in a future endeavor. I asked Bob to keep us apprised as its something I'm sure a number of us would be interetsed in attending.

iii. Stowe Vermont: A number of members are heading to the big British car gathering in Stowe Vermont. They are leaving Thursday. We await their reports and pictures with excitement.

iv. Owls Head (Antique car and aeroplane show) is the weekend of Oct 9-10. While we do not have a planned activity to participate I understand there is a group from BATANS that will be attending. So if anyone here would be interested, I'm sure they wouldn't mind another in their convoy. Please see their web site for details.

v. UNB Invitation for "Special"cars. Please see our web site for the details. The request is for Friday Oct 1/10.

vi. Upcoming Proposed Tours:

Oct 3 - Fall Color Tour -  David N. proposed an up river tour to allow us to see the fall splendid colors. We decided to post it and see what the interest would be. Details to follow.

Oct 17 Sunday at 1PM -Tour to Knightsville (near Sussex)- Jim B proposed the run with almost unamimous show of hands of interest. Jim will post details on site as we get closer to the event. This would also double as our regular monthly meeting.

Open date, fall or early spring: Dwight proposed a tour and an overnight at the famous Algonguin. He has done a fair amount of work on this and has gotten us some very good rates. We can get these good rates provided we can gurantee 10+ people. We need a show of interest and whether or not we do this this fall or early spring.

Christmas in the Village(Gagetown): David N proposed a return to Gagetown for their "Christmas in the Village". We've done this before and had a merry time and a wonderful visit of the town. Is there interest to do it again this year?

Next meeting: We will delay our monthly meeting to the Knightsville Tour on  Oct 17. Please wait for the posted details.

    Happy Autumn everyone!

Gary:
The Oct.3 run could start at 11.00 AM from Timmies/Exhibition Grounds up Rte 8 and 107 to Stanley and
Pam's Restaurant (licenced, great food, variety and reasonable prices) for lunch. Then back to F'ton via Rte 620 and 617 along great switchback roads with
splendid views. Fo a more extended
tour, we could drive further up on Rte 8 to Boisetown and then back to Stanley on Rte 625.

I support lunchtime tours this time of year rather than dinner
tours that require us to drive home in the dark and the prospect of colliding with New Brunswick's wildlife. Maybe members can email
you with their opinion/decision.
