Report on the St. George's Day Party

This year's party circuit got off to a great start with a bash at Kelvin's to celebrate St Georges Day. St George is the patron Saint of electricity and we honoured him by throwing some new spark plugs into Jim W's new E-Type to replace the only slightly less new ones already in place.

Kelvin's garage was decorated for the occasion and made a fine party spot. The weather was warm enough that we could hang around outside for much of the evening and enjoy the lack of mosquitoes. Everyone had brought their favourite dish and the food supply was ample. We had many desserts this time which I'm sure did no one's diet any good. Kelvin had prepared a couple of brain teasers again and it was only until the contest was over that he revealed that one of the quiz's was from two years previous. He also graciously provided prizes.

Our thanks go out to Kelvin and his daughter Fiona for (again) hosting this annual event.

St. George and the Dragon

Just a reminder  for the St. Georges Day bash being held this Saturday the 27th at my new house 1335 Route 10 ( that's the road to Minto ). The event is being held in the garage so we can all be together rather than scattered around the house. Usual quiz and a mini autotest to test you memory and control skills. The weather is forecast to be great, warm and sunny so we can spend some time outside as well. Arrive anytime after 5pm but we will probably eat around 6.30 to 7.00.
Pot Luck supper as usual and bring your own tipple.

Look forward to seeing you all.
Kelvin

Guess who else appreciates the E-Type?

Try not to get misty eyed while watching this. A great car appreciated by a worthy owner.

Another Sunday garage visit

The next installment of the the series "Fun with Jim's Jag" will take place THIS Sunday at 11:00 AM at Jim Woodford's. As Jim's toolbox is with a relative, please bring a selection of hand tools. We'll also need some funnels (large ones please). We hope to finish off what we started last Sunday.

2013 Tour Proposals

Now that we are very close to our 2013 tour season it's time to put some dates to the calendar so we can see what the spring and summer has in store for us. Many of you have committed to putting a tour or an event on which we all very much appreciate. I would now like to capture these events so that I can put together an events calendar that would also include the other seasonal events such as the PEI, NS and Rexton British car shows.

I'd like to be able to do this so I can talk about it at our next meeting on April 17. So could you please send me a note with what your event is with the "proposed dates" and then we can further discuss these on the 17th. My email address is: gararsenault@gmail.com

For planning purposes, here are the dates for the out of town shows a number of our club members will attend:

Jul  19-21 - British Motoring Festival - Windsor NS
Aug 23-25 - British Car Days PEI     - Rustico PEI
Aug 26-29 - BATANS Tour of SW New Brunswick
TBA       - British Car Festival        -  Rexton NB

It looks like we are going to have the basis of a good seasons touring schedule from all the events members have committed to as well as the out of town events that are also available to us.

Looking forward to discussing this on April 17.
Many thanks,
   Gary

Pancakes and Maple Syrup — How Sweet It Is!

The weatherman changed his mind and gave us a precipitation-free Sunday so that 24 could enjoy the outing to the Dumfries Pancake House. Thanks to John B. for arranging the event and to Jim and Ellie for a nice slideshow of photos to be found here.
- David

Twenty four FABACians braved chilly weather for the April 7th run along H’way 102 to Dumfries Maples for a pancake brunch. Three of them (David N. in Carolyn’s 1976 Triumph TR6 and John and Anne C. in their 1980 MGB) brought their cars out of winter hibernation to embarrass everyone else! The pancake house staff welcomed us with reserved tables and piles of pancakes, sausages and plenty of maple syrup. After brunch, everyone visited the nearby sugar shack for a presentation about the making of maple syrup. Some folks bought samples to take home. All in all, a great ice-breaker for the 2013 FABAC tour season!

REMINDER SUNDAY, APRIL 7TH BRUNCH AT DUMFRIES MAPLES PANCAKE HOUSE.

At 10.45 am, we meet at Timmies (junc. of Woodstock Rd /Prospect St) for a 11.10 am departure. Following Hwy. 102, we arrive at the Dumfries Maples Pancake House around 11.45 am for delicious homemade pancakes and sausages with juice and coffee, followed by an optional tour of the sugar shack and sugar bush.
Please note: Payment by cash only. A section of the restaurant will be reserved for FABACians so there should be no waiting for places to sit and eat like last year.
We return to Fredericton via Nackawic and Hwy. 105. Also please note, this is a rain or shine event.
