It should always go like this. In today's episode we replaced a leaky fuel line and fettled the carb bowls(?) installing new gaskets. The car started instantly and settled into a steady run with good oil pressure. The timing and mixture were obviously close enough since she ran so well and started with the first turn of the starter.
Gloating, we retired to the kitchen for tea and cookies.
We're getting darned good at this and are looking for other ancient cars that need some persuasion to start and run. Anyone need help?

Well done, gentlemen!
I just want to comment here and thank Bob again for his help. He did all the same things I was doing with the addition of sandpapering the points. These were new points, who knew that would make a difference. The old car is not giving up yet though. While it is running ok, there is a massive exhaust leak, and it need new gaskets below the manifold. Brian has some though so that is the next step.....I want to drive this car!!!

And this old car is not letting me go yet.....If you listen during the video, there is a large exhaust leak when it is running, and it was at the bottom of the manifold. I took the pipe off and a part was missing and the gasket was in pieces. Called Brian, and of course he has the parts needed. Great! Picked them up and today went to put the pipe back on the manifold.....all the bolts on the bottom were stripped, well two were in bad shape, one was without threads. So....Brian!! He has a manifold off his other car with good studs and bolts. The carbs and the manifolds are off the car again. I'll pick the other manifold up tomorrow, and on we go.

Further update......exhaust is fixed, hand brake fixed, drove the car up and down the street yesterday....close to going home.
