Stanley Fair Event

We had a great time at the Stanley Fair on Saturday. Everything worked out well. The drive there along the Nashwaak River was very nice and wonderfully scenic, blending extremely well with the beautiful day.

Once we arrived in Stanley we met up with Terry and Karen and Larry and Sandi who led us into the fairgrounds. So in total we had a great turnout of 10 cars of all marks. Once on site, we were parked alongside the agricultural barn and had a fair amount of walk by interest in our cars.

As expected there were many things to do including, checking out all the various agricultural animals in the barn, taking in the horse pull, always a popular event, view the exhibits in the exhibit center, see the popular antique agricultural motors, buy home made goodies and preserves which many of our members did. There were so many things to see and to do. Oh yes, there were 3 places to eat on the grounds including 2 food trucks as well as the fairgrounds cafe. All had great choices judging from the reports coming back from our folks. If there was one issue it would be that the weather was too nice and finding shade became a roving game of chasing it with our foldable chairs.

So all in all we had a great day all the while contributing in some small way to a wonderful and worthwhile community event.

Again, thanks to Larry and Sandi for organizing this annual event for us.

   Best,
   Gary

August 17th FABAC meeting report

The August meeting was again in Carleton Park under warm late summer skies with a warm breeze off the river.  Jenny had brought Kelvin in tow which made a quorum of 15 attendees.

Gary talked about the recent run to McAdam to meet with the Canadian Kruzers at the train station.  The run was well attended with perfect weather.

Upcoming events:
  • The Stanley Fair is this Saturday the 20th.  Excellent weather is promised.
  • A visit to the Atlantic motorsport Park is being planned for sometime soon.
  • Debi (Tim's partner) invited everyone to her 70th birthday bash at the Morningate Church on September 11th between 1 and 3 in the afternoon.  The cake is free.
  • John D (not to be confused with the tractor manufacturer) proposed a run to St. George for the 3rd of September.
  • The next meeting will be at Hazen Park gazebo in Oromocto.  It's the large wooden structure behind the Hazen Centre on the waterfront.  Ample parking surrounds the building.  There are plenty of food shops on Restigouche Rd.

Stanley Fair Update- Saturday Aug 20 - Rain date Sunday Aug 21

We're hoping to get as many FABAC members out for the annual Stanley Fair as possible. You will remember we made this one of our community events to attend on an annual basis. The Stanley Fair organizers and the folks attending the fair have always well appreciated our attendance while exhibiting our cars. We've also had a lot of fun attending ourselves with all the displays and events. They also have a pretty good restaurant on the fair grounds. So please try to make it if you can.

I'll be leading the group to Stanley with a departure from the Northside Canadian Tire at 10:15. We'll travel via Route 148 to Taymouth and onto English Settlement Rd to Stanley.

 Hope to see you there,
            Gary

FABAC August Meeting - Carleton Park - Tuesday Aug 16

It's hard to believe it's August already so the summer is certainly moving along. With it still being nice and warm let's meet outside again at Carleton Park for 5:30. What better way to enjoy your supper! Where the forecast for Wednesday is calling for cloud/showers, let's schedule it for the better weather forecasted day Tuesday Aug 16th. If you arrive before us, please pick a picnic table if one is available. We hope to see many of you out for this meeting as we need some event ideas for the coming month.

Perhaps we could go for an ice cream run after the meeting?

Thanks everyone,
 Gary

Car Show n’ Shine at the Boistown Woodsmen’s Museum on August 14th

 Hello Folks-

Following is information regarding the upcoming Car Show n’ Shine at the Boistown Woodsmen’s Museum on August 14th.  The best way to get there is to intersect with Route 148 at the end of Killarney Road and stay on 148 until it intersects with Route 8 North of Stanley.  If anyone organizes a run to this event, Sandi and I would be pleased to join you at the intersection of Routes 148 and 107, near Stanley.   In addition to the food truck at the site, the Tipsy Canoe restaurant is just a few kilometers further up route 8.    We hope to see you next week.

Cheers,

Larry and Sandi

In Memorium

The attached is obituary of Peter MacNutt, lawyer in Fredericton from PEI, who was an active racer back in my racing days in the ‘60s and ‘70s. Big guy who could match ‘the little guys’ with his talent. Please pass on to our club.

Cheers
