Ice Cream run: (cancelled if raining)

When:  Thursday the 31st of August.

Where: Meet @ Sobeys parking lot @ 6:30 pm, at the bottom of of Regent st. (across from Harvey's restaurant)

Destination: Dairy Queen @ 540 Union St, north side

Consider parking between the liquor store and the Dairy Queen, if you just want to meet the group there. There maybe more room than in D.Q. parking lot. Also, there are a few picnic tables outside that we could use. ( or the tables were there on Sunday)

Please arrive in whatever vehicle you are comfortable driving but come out for conversation and cream. Also, post any comments to the web site.

Thank you,
Al Thomas

September 2nd trip to Calais, Maine (Updated)

MONDAY UPDATE: So far I have six cars going on Saturday. Three Miatas,Two Triumphs and One MGB,

Here is a 300km trip that Ernst and I are planning to do August 31 on September 2nd. Driving from Fredericton to Canterbury. Then over to  Maine to rte 1 onto Calais. Have late lunch or early dinner at the Chinese Restaurant in Calais. Then over to St Stephen. Back to Fredericton. If anyone wants to join us for the trip let me know. We have decided to leave from the Wolastoq Gas bar in Kingsclear. It seems there was no interest in anyone wanting to go to breakfast before leaving. We will be leaving sharp at 10 o’clock Saturday, September 2 —rain date Sunday September 3. We could have a late lunch or an early dinner in Calais.
Cheers,
John

Last night's dinner/meeting/tanning session. (August 17th)

A whole buncha folks crammed ourselves onto the back balcony/deck thing at Issac's Way and sent a waiter into fits by asking for another chair before we all settled down.
  • David N. showcased the Morgan and mentioned an eezee 'wash-n-wax' spray that I personally took considerable exception too.
  • Gary gave a quickee recap of recent runs and lamented that everything seems to happen when he and Barb are somewhere else.
  • The Pond's Resort run was great success with an excellent meal, a fun run down the 148 and a recap of a historical accident on the river.
  • Carol & John's three—no two—ferry run was another recent success.
  • Several members displayed their cars at the Eden's Villa retirement home to the delight of its residents.
Upcoming events....
  • The Stanley Fair is this weekend.  And it's not gonna rain.
  • Several folks are planning to attend the airshow at Debert, NS.
  • John D., with Ernst possibly in tow, is planning a cross-border tour to Calais and environs.
Now....short cuts when waxing cars.  If it's your *DD then shortcuts are allowed and even encouraged since that gives you more time to spend on your baby.  I could say more about warm water bubbles and wash mitts slathered over vintage curved metal but my wife will likely read this.

Stanley Fair - Saturday Aug 19/23

Everything looks good. See you there.

We're hoping to get as many FABAC members out for the annual Stanley Fair as possible. You will remember we made this one of our community events to attend on an annual basis. The Stanley Fair organizers and the folks attending the fair have always appreciated our attendance. We've also had a lot of fun attending ourselves with all the displays and events. They also have a pretty good restaurant on the fairgrounds and several food trucks there. All with great food. So please try to make it if you can, it's for a good cause.

I'll be leading the group to Stanley on Saturday with a departure from the Northside Canadian Tire at 10:15. We'll travel via Route 148 to Taymouth and onto English Settlement Rd to Stanley. This in itself is a beautiful drive along the Nashwaak River onto the English Settlement Rd.

Larry and Sandi will meet us there and lead us into the Park.  You may want to bring foldable chairs.

 Hope to see you there,
            Gary

Next FABAC Meeting August 16th

A reservation has been made for the group dinner on August 16th at 5:30 at Issac's Way, in "The Vault" (649 Queen Street).

It seems that it is impossible to reserve a patio in the summer in Fredericton. They keep outside tables on a first come, first serve basis.

Thanks,
Peter

A possible trip for FABAC

Is there any interest in taking a road trip to Airshow Atlantic in Debert, NS on August 26-27th and travel some scenic roads on the way to and from the show?

FABAC Car display at Eden's Retirement Villa

When: August 12th at 2:00
Where: Eden's Villa on Harold Doherty Court just past Willie O'Ree Centre (Cliffe Street) on Northside Fredericton
What: Give the residents a little outing to wander/wheel around our cars and learn a little about them and our club.
Why: Because we love showing our cars and, we have the advantage of mobility that many others do not have. AND, it's going to be a nice day!
Who: Any FABACians or friends

Call me or email me if you have questions. (506)451-2859

Something to consider

Joe passed on some information regarding a Fredericton car show sponsored by Easter Seals. Unfortunately, it is planned for August 19th (rain date 26th) 8:00am to 2:00pm. That is the date set for our showing at Stanley Fair. However, the Stanley Fair runs two days so we could do both if we shifted our visit for the Fair to August 20th.

There is a $10/car fee for showing and a good-will offering for public viewing.
BTW, the car club with the most participating vehicles gets an award. We could do that.

So, what are your thoughts on this proposal? Post them here or email me.

Good times!

Three Ferry Run August 7th. IT'S HAPPENING!

We would like to book the group for Monday, August 7 to leave Ramada 10 am, cut in at the Shell station, go past Gagetown, take ferry at Evandale, ferry at Belleisle, across Kingston peninsula to Gondola pt ferry and then to our house in Quispamsis. We could have lunch at Evandale inn or Reid’s diner at Kingston side of Gondola pt ferry, and snacks and drinks at our house.

Great Cycle Challenge

 Good afternoon everyone,

I am again doing the Great Cycle Challenge for the Sick Kids Hospital Oncology service, and would love your support. Even if you don’t donate to the fund, I would love your emotional support for the children I am riding for.

My team mate Isaac is cancer free now. it has been a long four year treatment process for him, but he is now Cancer Free. Say that again, and again. It never gets old :)

If you go to my page, you will also see my note: Ten Years of Gratitude. I have been so incredibly fortunate in the care that I have received. I take nothing for granted.

If you would like to support my ride, please go to: www.GreatCycleChallenge.ca and enter my name as participant. The easiest way to do it is through their web page, as you will receive a receipt the same day.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you.
