Ernst and I had great weather and fantastic roads It was great to show Ernst the Acadia Trail for the first time.We drove 950Km. I would give road conditions 9.7 out of 10. On our way back we met up with Mark Colwell in Sussex at Smithy’s and had a great meal.
All the best from Ernst and John

Report on FABAC September Meeting

Our September dinner-meeting was at the Pickle Jar Restaurant in the Convention Centre.

A lively gathering (with only two us properly attired) was eventually corralled into some semblance of a meeting by our able leader, Gary.
  • Sandi & Larry's recent afternoon of food-n-fun was well attended and even weller(sp) enjoyed. Much thanks was extended.
  • The great JD (John Dewitt) is planning another three day trip along the Fundy coast for the end of  the month. There was much discussion about the trip and Ernst V. will be liaising with JD on the  details.  Expect further news.
  • This Sunday ( 21st Sept) will see a car show at the Exhibition grounds.  Details will likely appear  here.
  • THE HOLIDAY PARTY!  Yes, we're already doing some planning.  The two spots up for consideration:  King's Landing and the Riverside Inn. We're planning for the 2nd Wednesday in December.
  • There was a proposal for a day Trip to Deer Island.  Details will be forthcoming.
  • The next meeting will be at Mingler's Pub in Oromocto.

Report on the Fun! Fun! Fun! Event

We enjoyed another outing to Sandi & Larry's place today with perfect weather. There was just enough cloud cover to keep folks from frying, enough of a breeze to keep the few mosquitoes back in the bush, and perfect temperatures.  As the pictures show, there was also a healthy show of LBCs. Could this be a sign?
As always, there was more food than we could all eat, with the signature FABAC embossed cakes a big hit.
Games were played and hikes were made.  New this year were 'Stomp Rockets'. No distances were recorded but I'm sure that records were broken.  A tip for next year, shoes work much better than bare feet.
Thanks again to Sandy & Larry for your hospitality.

I'll be leading those wishing to travel in a group to Sandi and Larry's on Saturday. Let's meet at Kent Northside parking lot for an 11:30 departure.

The weather forecast is looking great so come on out and enjoy this wonderful fun filled event.......and there are prizes!

Hope to see many of you there.

FUN! FUN! FUN!

Sandi and Larry will be hosting (another) FABAC fun event on Saturday, September 13, rain date September 14th, arriving at our home around 12:00.   Our records indicate our first FABAC party was in 2014.  How could it have been 11 years ago!  The primary difference between this and our other FABAC events is this year, in deference to everyone’s advancing age, this will be a pot-luck lunch rather than pot-luck supper event.  As in the past, there will be games, a quiz and prizes.

If you are able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. We will provide hamburgers, chicken burgers, and a dessert.  We will also provide delicious Red Rock water.  Please let us know what dish you will be bringing.  If it is not convenient for you to bring food, come anyway.  Heinlein@unb.ca, text 506-461-0132 or Byers@unb.ca, text 506-478-0300.

Where: 135 Red Rock Road, Stanley. There will be an additional posting detailing where folks will meet to travel together. For those coming out separately from Fredericton, the best route is to take is Killarney Road to Route 148.  Follow 148 past Durham Bridge to Taymouth.  At Taymouth, turn left onto English Settlement Road.  Take English Settlement to Stanley (approximately 14km?).  Immediately following the Church at the top of the hill, take a sharp right onto Red Rock Road. We are 1.35 km from the intersection.  The names Heinlein/Byers are on the mailbox. N.B. The other end of Red Rock Road intersects with English Settlement several kilometers earlier. DO NOT take that end of the road unless you want to test the off-road capabilities of your vehicle. You should never be on an unpaved road.  When you arrive at our home, feel free to drive down to the house and unload before coming back up to park by our shop.  If you have mobility issues, please park down by the house.

The Great Cycle Challenge 2025

Well, I had to take a break when I developed the flu but have almost reached my cycling goal of 400 km (24 km to go) and have surpassed my fundraising goal of $2500.

So far, I am at $3105, but am always open for more if any of you have not donated yet.
I do appreciate your support. As a cancer survivor myself I am very aware of the fear that attends the diagnosis, and my gratitude for those who assist with funding of research and improving treatment methods is very real.
Thank you to each and everyone of you.

If you had thought of donating, but haven’t done so yet, please go to:
Www.GreatCycleChallenge.ca, click on “donate”, enter my name, and the amount. All donations will receive a tax receipt.
