Report from Bob E. on May FABAC Meeting

Thirty FABACians braved the torrential downpours Wednesday evening to meet at the Pizza Delight in Freddy north.
For some reason we were quite noisy with everyone having lots to say. PFL (President For Life) Gary Arsenault beat everyone into submission and allowed some semblance of a meeting to take place.  The first order of business was a reminder about this weekends lobster run to Dumfries.  More information will appear on the website.  Joe Hines informed us that Ernie McClain's fly-in will happen in July. Jim Bleakney and I will arrange a run to Saint John for the 13th of June. Our next meeting will be at Porters Restaurant on the Hanwell Rd on the 16th of June.  Folks are invited to bring an 8 x 10 picture of their car which the owner will frame and display in the restaurant. The Crumleys returned from wintering down south and were presented with the first annual FABAC 'Bent Spoke' award.  I'm sure everyone remembers how they finished last year's lobster run on the back of a tow truck.  While this will be an annual award, we hope it doesn't actually have to be awarded very often. Bob Earl (me) gave a short introduction to finding great deals on E-bay and rubbed Joe Hine's nose in my latest amazingly cheap purchase. A separate article (with links) will appear here soon.  Curry Alders reminded everyone about the upcoming British car show in Windsor, Nova Scotia.  They have a large number of entrants already reserved. Bob Laroche had an update on the British gentleman driving his 2CV around the globe.  While he's expected in Moncton this weekend, various scheduling conflicts mean he'll be here when he's here. Vic-n-Heather proposed a trip to the Miramichi which they'll arrange. Finally, John Bowles updated everyone on this summer's MGB meet in Ontario and mentioned the Bricklin show happening at the Freddy Playhouse.  They will be attending and we hope to have a report from them next meeting. I found that this was a very enjoyable meeting/dinner as everyone stayed late chatting rather than leaving as soon as dinner was over.  I hope this trend continues.
It was also nice to see the Hoffmans in attendance.  We hope you get the TR6 running soon Alex.

Colin Craythorne is arriving May 22, from England and will be driving across Canada to raise funds for leukemia of which he is a survivor. He is driving a 2CV, same colors as mine, I will be meeting up with him in Moncton in my 2CV, this should be quite a sight.
Should anyone want to join me you are quite welcome, we will be coming back to my house for a meet and greet as well.

Evandale Run Sunday May 2 2010

What?!...you missed it?...the premiere run of the 2010 season and you had something better to do?  Tsk tsk tsk.
I don't have to tell you what the weather was like since run or not, we where all here and we know how spectacular it was.  Although it cooled a bit as we putted, purred (and occasionally roared) down
the back roads towards the southern end of the Kingston peninsula and forced a few into sweaters, it remained much warmer than predicted. We stopped at the Evandale Inn close to five PM for supper.  Most of us went straight to the buffet ( "Mmmm, roast chicken or pork!" ) and got to eat immediately so that we could relax over tea and harass the others who had to wait for their meals.  The return run was made much quicker on the north side of the river via the 102.
This was the first run for the Alder's shiny new 1969 XKE which by the way Curry, is 'Azure Blue'.  They've had it less than a week but seem to be settling into it nicely.
