Visiting Healey Club Pot-Luck Update
Well how time does pass by quickly. I first mentioned the AHCSO tour several months ago and their departure time is near. July 20th, the folks meet in Cornwall, ON and begin their tour with the first stop in Quebec City, making their way to Bar Harbor, ME and then Fredericton on route to Nova Scotia - Cape Breton, South Shore of NS, Digby, across to St. John and on to St. Stephen, across Maine, NH, Vermont, NY and home. The final count is 16 cars (13 big Healeys, 2 Bugeye Sprites and 1 MGB) with 1 car from New Mexico. They will be in our area July 26 and staying at the Riverside Resort (former Holiday Inn). We will be hosting a social visit and barbecue at our home during the late afternoon and evening and need to get a count of FABACians that will be joining this gathering.
The dinner will consist of salad, barbecue hotdogs and hamburger and a dessert. We would like the club members to bring the (pot luck) salads. Sherry and I will look after the rest of the food. Perhaps some folks may like to contribute some munchies as well to go along with a drink of sorts (by individuals). Now Sherry and I are leaving to travel to NS and the Windsor car show on July 20 also and need to get coordinated for this event before we leave. So we would like to have a count of folks from our club who will be joining in to make this dinner a real success and enjoy the visit from the AHCSO.
Could you let us know soon please if you can join the get together and meet and enjoy the company of some new friends for dinner.

A Real British Car Day Tour
John Bowles is proposing "A Real British Car Day Tour" for Saturday, August 14th for ALL FABACians driving British and non-British cars. Starting at 10.30 am from the Fredericton Ramada, the route would go to Jemseg, Cambridge Narrows, Springfield and Kingston. At Kingston, there would be a pit stop and a visit to the John Fisher Memorial Museum and the oldest Anglican church in New Brunswick on its original foundation.
After a guided tour of the church, the route would continue a few kilometres from Kingston to the riverside property of Tony Rickett. Here, tour participants would be able to display their cars on the grounds at the water's edge. eat the picnic lunches they have brought, and enjoy Tony's collection of British classics (Jaguar, Triumph, Austin-Healey etc.) and his extensive vineyard! A bottle of the vineyard's best product would go the winner of a special car-related competition.
Later in the afternoon, the tour would proceed to the Grand Bay-Westfield ferry (pit stop) along Rte 850 which has to have some of the most beautiful views in New Brunswick, After the ferry, participants would drive to Evandale where at the Evandale Inn dinner around 5.30 pm would be served. After dinner, the tour would end in Fredericton via Queenstown, Gagetown and Oromocto.
To gauge FABAC member's initial response to the proposal, please contact John NOW at tel: 449-0562 or email: jmbowles @nb.sympatico.ca. Final confirmation would be required by noon Wednesday, August 11th so as to give notice to Tony Rickett and the Evandale Inn.

Report on the North American MGB Register's MG2010 Convention

Four FABACians attended the convention, Dwight and Barb Ball with their daughter Chloe, and John and Shirley Ann Bowles who drove the red 'B' some 1,700 miles to and from the event. Organized by the MG Car Club of Toronto, Ontario's third oldest sports car club, the event was some four years in the planning and organization.
Its featured activities included conducted tours of the Quinte Bay area with its many wineries, arts and crafts shops and historic Loyalist sites; a track day at Shannonville Raceway and a car show on the grounds of the Ramada Hotel, the event headquarters. Technical sessions with MG experts like John Twist, a ladies program, and a long awards banquet were other activity highlights. (John's 'B' received some 'Twist Treatment' with some special timing and carb adjustment).
Spoilt only by rain during the day of the car show, MG 2010 was very well organized, with many of the entries a joy to behold for their concours presentation. Good though it is, John's Flame Red example just wasn't quite good enough to win an award. He does have a nice dash plaque though! We're normally pretty jaded when it comes to manufacturer's claims for their products. Rarely do things work anywhere nearly as well as they're advertised. This is an example of something that does. This rust paint actually works as well as they claim it does. It's been around for years and is well known and respected by the restoration crowd. Unfortunately it's always been hard to get, being sold mainly through mail order. It's now available through the UAP/NAPA store on Restigouche Rd in Oromocto who will bring it in upon request. visit the POR-15 site at https://www.por15canada.com/can/ The stuff isn't cheap but it's well worth the price. I can bore anyone with the story of my 85 Honda Civic that was held together by this stuff.
