Update from David: DARN! I've been reading all the comments about what everyone is bringing for the potluck and now I am REALLY upset that I can't be there! Any chance for a "left-overs" party?! ;-)
Just a reminder to mark next Saturday Dec 10 as the FABAC annual Christmas dinner at Jim and Lorraine Woodfords. As you know Jim and Lorraine have hosted this event for us many times in the past and we know how much of a wonderful time we had. I expect this Christmas party to be one of the best. Here’s why.
In terms of the “fixings” Lorraine has been decorating for the last 2 weeks and we all know what a wonderful warm, welcoming and festive environment she creates for us. Jim too has also been using his creative skills to come up with some interesting festive events that I’m sure will arose interest and entertainment for those attending…… once we see what he has in store. One of the things I’m allowed to share with everyone is that he has ordered a case of “Spotted Dick” for everyone to experience! Now don’t be worried this is not “one of those personal communicable diseases” that we read about but rather a very traditional English seasonal dessert that I understand is very popular in Britain at this time of year. You’ve really got to admire the Brits for their titling and Jim for his festive sense of giving.
Another very important and exciting event will be some major presentations. One of the primary organizers from the Rexton British car show will be making special presentations to our group. These are the awards that our club members and the club itself won at this summer's Rexton car show. Can you imagine they are coming here, to our Christmas party, to make these presentations. How amazing is that! This speaks to the dedication that these folks have in making their car show, a New Brunswick British car show, one to be part of, to be proud of and one not to miss.
We will also be having the annual “Yankee Swap” event with a $10.00 limit per present. This will be voluntary participation activity. Find a gift that is humorous, interesting or wonderful in some way. Wrap it with no name, bring it and participate in one of the events that always guarantees to entertain, excite and bring laughter. It’s always been one of the many highlights at our Christmas gatherings. Dianne Earl who always brings a special presence to the event has once again agreed to host it for us.
This is a BYOB, pot luck event so please bring your contribution.
The fun starts at 5pm. Jim and Lorraine live at 159 Mactaquac Heights. (Turn right off the Mactaquac Dam if coming from Fredericton, and take the first left as you go up the hill.)
Oh yes, our hosts have requested we let them know how many will be attending .Please email the site or me directly to confirm your attendance as well as what you will be bringing in terms of your pot luck contribution.
Looking forward to seeing you all there,
Gary
