Who and What?

  Hello fellow FABACians

Take a high revving 4 cyl engine and a five speed tranny from one well known company then slap on a hardtop convertible  body that was designed by one of the iconic British car designers but manufactured by another marque  and voila you get this little gem. The car you see pictured here has been roused out of a very deep sleep in a central Texas Barn where is has slumbered quietly for the past several decades.  It started the very long journey north on New Year's day and is expected to be delivered to the proud new Papa in the next few days.  Although built in 1974 it has was on the road
until 1978 and last driven in 1981 That's 34 years ago.  The 46,000 miles on the clock is about right
and just over 10K per year. It has always lived in Texas and as a result has not evaporated with rust as most of this Marque has been known to do.  No it is not in great condition nor has the new owner seen the car or even turned the key but it is all original and almost all there (unlike the owners
sanity) but he has assurance from the seller that the engine will turn over on a battery and with a bit of fettling and a new radiator should fire right up. Those in the know will be able to ID the car right away but with only 11,00 made and very few sent to North America and even fewer to Canada it is
not an everyday marque on the streets of New Brunswick.  Any guesses as to who might be anxiously awaiting this delivery ?  And what is it?

Its a Jensen Healey I believe. They also did an estate version similar to the Reliant GTE but they are as rare as hens teeth.

part A of the amazing prize package does go to Kelvin for the marque- it is a 1974 Jensen Healey indeed. now who is foolish enough to want one? should not be too difficult there are not too manty nut bars in the club

There is one that I see occasionally around Fredericton. There is at least one "nut bar" in the area.

I'm going to guess Ralph has bought this, based on the well written post!

And Joe has the correct answer to the question. And thank you for the method of deduction. Very Sherlock of you.
Yes indeed I did go out and find another oddball car. I like my cars like I like my steak RARE. With the good sense talked into me by the rouges gallery know as the Fabac travlleing pit crew I disposed of the Austin Atlantic to Nevada in December and went on the hunt. Interesting that there is another one in Freddy Town Love to make connection with the owner if anybody knows who it is.

I see an excuse for the FABACTRS&PC to visit you for a post-purchase inspection. When does she arrive?

as I type on Monday Morning the Jensen should be arriving at Brit Bits Fine British Automobiles in Rye New Hampshire also the home of our good friend and trusty Mechanic Norm Micheals. He is going to put it in the shop and install the new radiator, intall a new timing belt (standard practice for this Lotus 907 engine) and wake up the engine. Once this is done and I have sorted the border paperwork I will zip down with the trailer and pick it up hopefully in a couple weeks.

Most definately would enjoy the company. It will probably be an overnight run as it is 6 hours one way and would want to spend some time with Norm and a parts guy in Kennebunkport. I have another day run (hopefully ) to pick up a parts car just south of Augusta but that has not been finalized will keep you posted.

And in order to get some money in my paypal account I have decided to thin the library of some books mostly Jaguar. Help a poor broke LBC owner finance this next project. Alms for the poor Guvner.
