Well, the trip to Loring was a disappointment. Spectators are not allowed at the "fast end" of the runway, only registered racers and pit crew. Even the starting area was at least 400 feet from the pit area and there are no provisions for spectators at all. It seems to be an event for racers, their crew and friends.
On the other hand it was a wonderful day for a tour on some excellent Maine back roads, driving through such places as Monticello, Fort Fairfield, Limestone, Mapleton, Ashland, Knowles Corner, Smyrna Mills and Houlton.

Thanks for the report, Phil. I noticed that the registration was pretty high except for the most serious drivers. Nice day for a drive though.
