As someone who takes a somewhat metaphysical view to cars and driving, I understand the author completely. I judge a car by how it makes me feel, not what it can do, or performance numbers. Even the act of working on the car is a part of the experience and encourages time to be introspective about ownership of a chosen vehicle/hobby/pastime/obsession/money-sucking-piece-of-scrap. Bob E.
