Terry Pond’s Living Memorial this Saturday

Many of you will remember Terry and Sharon who were wonderful hosts at their home for a couple of FABAC events (https://fabaclub.blogspot.com/2007/01/next-meeting-january-17-2007.html). As I mentioned back in March, Terry is dealing with some pretty serious health issues. His family have organized this get-together at the Pond's home. You might want to take along a folding chair or blanket—food and drinks will be provided. This will be a great opportunity for us to reconnect with Terry and Sharon.
See you there!

Argh!... anther update to tomorrow's run—hint—it's cancelled.

I found out that the lobster shack is closed on Sundays except for long weekends.
Two couples made it there on Saturday (today) and enjoyed the trip.
      Sorry folks, my screw up.

Lobster Run—FINAL UPDATE

FINAL  UPDATE  (NOPE)
Cancelled
It looks like it *might* rain this Sunday but I can't put it off any longer as my busy social calendar is getting full.   Dianne & I will wait at the Burton Court house parking lot for an 11:00 AM departure down the 102.  We'll have umbrellas and something to sit on just in case it does decide to rain.  I see that others may go down on Saturday.  Perhaps this will be a 'split' day run?

Bob's Notes from last night's meeting

In defiance of David's posted instructions, a full 15 FABACians showed up at Porters Diner well before 5:30 PM.  We wondered if we where going to get in trouble for flouting authority and even made a point of bragging to David when he wandered in a few minutes before 5:30.

Points from the dinner -er- meeting.
  • We have a new member in the name of Pamela Hill.  She has a 1970 MGB and we hope to see her often.
  • The upcoming tour to Lorneville for lobster has been postponed until the following Sunday (the 26th) due to variable weather.  There is no inside facility there so we need reasonable assurance of dry weather.  More info will be posted here.
  • Bob E gave a short report on Alex Hoffman.  Folks are encouraged to visit him and Lise in Nackawic.
  • Gary gave a quick update on this summers PercĂ© Rock in GaspĂ©.
  • Windsor is happening on July 12th to the 14th.  The Friday evening gathering is again taking place.
  • There was a proposal to make a trip to a car museum in Grand Digne sometime in June.
  • Dwight proposed a visit to a small local car museum.  He will arrange it.  It is only open at 8:00AM on Sunday mornings.
  • Likely jealous of Dan's new status, Kelvin has applied for Canadian citizenship and is planning a HUGE party once his conversion to the tribe is complete.
  • The next meeting will be at the Chinese restaurant at the Day's Inn in Oromocto.

Progress.....finally!

And isn't it about time? Weirdly, I was struck by an attack of enthusiasm on Sunday and have worked on the jag every day since, even if only a little bit. The crankshaft is mostly in.  I mounted it, applied some Plastigauge to the journals, took everything apart again and measured the gauge.  I knew that all clearances where going to be well within tolerances but I like confirmation.  Turns out I need one normal thrust bearing (I had bought two oversize ones to account for what I assumed would be normal wear). I've also ordered a new oil pump as mine has some scoring on the outer rotor.
The head was cleaned to within an inch of it's life and masked off for painting on the first decent day.  I'd started cleaning and polishing the aluminium but gave up as it's sooooo badly corroded.  I ground off the worst of it and the paint will make it look period and hide the bit of pitting left.
     Onwards!

A visit with Alex and Lise

Hello Folks,
Yesterday Sandi and I visited with Alex and Lise.  They were both in good spirits and welcomed us into their home.  Alex seems to be doing pretty well.  He reported that his pain is well managed.  While we were there they showed us some of Alex’s artwork.  He’s very talented!  Before we left Lise had us sign the guestbook, which had many entries.  They said that visitors are appreciated and would love to see fellow FABACers.
Cheers,
Larry and Sandi

I have a 1979 green MGB for sale. Rust free. Weber carb . daytime running lights. And overdrive transmission. Asking $9200. I have had this since 2005 and its always been garaged since I have owned it. The past couple of years I have just not driven it like I should so I feel its time to pass it along to someone that will appreciate it. I can be reached at krbauer@rogers.com or 506-961-0791.

Alex update

I called Lise today to get an update on Alex.  He's resting at home and doing as well as can be expected. She mentioned he enjoys having visitors. However only a couple at a time as too many tire him. Please call in advance if you are planning to visit. (575-2584)
