Notes from FABAC April Meeting

April's Not-an-April-fools-day-dinner, dinner report.
Dimitris is always a great place to eat and being under new management hasn't changed that. We waited (and waited) for Ernst to show up (as promised) but he didn't. Sorry Ernst, ya missed out.
Gary opened by mentioning the Dumfries run and the recent drive down to Britt's Pub where a few of the old Saint John gang met us.
There was the usual call for day trips somewhere....anywhere! Spring is sorta, kinda, maybe showing its head...reluctantly, and we need to get out and enjoy it. We're gonna see where we can go in Sussex and that sea food place near the coast is also a fun trip when it warms up a bit more.
Donna and Robert brought along their daughter, Rochelle. With a newcomer in our midst we all sorta behaved ourselves.
The evening car shows will be starting up in May. Details will appear here.
There's a car show in Hoyt on June 7th between 10 and 2.
It looks like the next dinner will be in Oromocto at the Carnation Chinese food place on the 21st of May. We've been there a few times and enjoyed it.

Interesting video

This an awesome museum and if I ever again get the desire to go to the Excited States of America, this will be on my list!

Saint John Run

We had a great trip to Saint John meeting up with the Saint John members and also Chris Painter showed up from Sussex—a total of 16 club members. I would like to thank everyone.
Cheers

These might brighten your day—or night.

I picked this up this morning from the Toyota dealer, brought it to the breakfast, then hid under the table as I was bombarded with questions and interest. I promised pictures and a part number on the site.
Dan, I'll bet the 7 would like this?

The story (because there's ALWAYS a story):

A week and a half ago there was a post on the Jaguar forum about an LED retrofit kit that a member had bought from his local Toyota dealer. It seems that this was made for the old Toyota LandCruiser. It consisted of a standard 7 in headlight, an LED H4 bulb, a wiring harness with relays(!), a bunch of tie straps and instructions. Amazingly it only cost 16 bucks (US). The next day (last Tuesday) I went to our local dealer armed with the part number and ordered two of them, paying up front. I was a little miffed that it was more than twice the initial price but that's still a LOT less than any other conversion I've seen. I picked up the order this morning and upon opening one of the boxes discovered two (2!) bulbs and associated hardware. This was the reason for the higher price. There must be different packaging for some reason. That gives me four sets for the measly price of $85.80 Beaver bucks with taxes.
The Toyota part number is "TOY 8111060P70 Headlamp Assembly SPORD". $37.30 Beaver Bucks. The parts gent was quite interested when I told him the story. I added that the initial article indicated that Toyota was clearing these out of their warehouses. ORDER THEM NOW IF YOU WANT THEM!
The pictures show the front and back of the headlamp with the bulb installed. Note that the wiring harness is for the pair and will probably need some modification to fit your car. I'm gonna give this a go soon and will report.

An important update for the Saint John run this Saturday.

Final Update:
A change where we were planning to meet in Oromocto at Tim’s on the 12th. Ian is thinking of coming with us and he suggested just down the street from the Tims. There is a new information centre across the street with more parking spaces. Members could go to Tim’s, pick up a coffee and then meet at the information centre. At 10:30 and leave for Saint John around 11:15.To date I have 15 members that are planning on going. I hope to hear from other members that are interested in going.
Cheers
John

Update from John:
I have received a call from the Pub.
Trip to Saint John on April 12/25 for lunch at the Britt’s Pub and Eatery on 1255 Sandy Point Road. I have made reservations for 20 for 12:30pm. We will be meeting at Tim Horton's in Oromocto across from Sobeys and Canadian Tire around 10:45am and leaving at 11:20am driving to Saint John on Rte7. If members would please let me know how many will be going so I can let the Pub know how many to expect.
Cheers,
John

Previously:
I am just wondering if the club members would be interested in a possible drive to Saint John on 12 April—a Saturday—maybe having some of our members coming down from Fredericton and meeting up with Saint John members and having lunch at the Britt's Pub & Eatery Rockwood. Just let me know what you think and I will make Reservations at the pub. Probably at this early date, people will want to use their daily drivers rather than LBCs.
Cheers,
John
