FABAC Party at Sandi and Larry’s

What:  Party and pot-luck supper.  Please respond to this posting if you can come and let us what you’re bringing. However, there will be lots of food, so if it’s not convenient, don’t worry about bringing anything. We will provide hamburgers and chicken burgers, corn on the cob (hopefully) and a dessert. We will have our delicious well water to drink.  Feel free to bring other beverages. We have about 20 chairs, so if it looks like more people than that will attend, please bring along some chairs, if you have room in your vehicle.      
 
When:  Saturday, August 28, 2021 (Rain date, Sunday, August 29, 2021).  Leave Fredericton around 3:00, arrive in Stanley about 3:30
 
Where: 135 Red Rock Road, Stanley. There will be an additional posting detailing where folks will meet to travel together. For those coming out separately, the best route is to take is Killarney Road to Route 148.  Follow 148 past Durham Bridge to Taymouth.  At Taymouth, turn left onto English Settlement Road.  Take English Settlement to Stanley (approximately 14km?).  Immediately following the Church at the top of the hill, take a sharp right onto Red Rock Road. We are 1.35 km from the intersection.  The names Heinlein/Byers are on the mailbox. N.B. The other end of Red Rock Road intersects with English Settlement several kilometers earlier. DO NOT take that end of the road unless you want to test the off-road capabilities of your vehicle. You should never be on an unpaved road.  When you arrive at our home, feel free to drive down to the house and unload before coming back up to park by our shop.  If you have mobility issues, please park down by the house.
 
Theme: There will be a variety of competitive and noncompetitive activities, including croquet, horseshoes, badminton, ladder golf, washer toss, aerobie throw, a quiz, and a walk down to the river.  Prizes will be awarded.
    
Other Information-
1.           This will be an outdoor event, so social distancing will be easy if you wish.
2.           Sixties music will be played, so if you don’t care for it, feel free to bring ear plugs.

Important Update:

I would suggest that we start from the parking lot at Kent’s, which is at the corner of Two Nations Crossing just off the Ring Road. That will let us enter Killarney Road/148.

I hope this finds you and yours well and surviving the last number of months of relative isolation.
I sold my MG a couple of years ago so I have not been following the blog regularly lately, but also don't want to say I'll never have another LBC.
The fellow to whom I sold the car was unfortunate to hit a soft shoulder last year and wrote it off. The rollbar did its job I'm happy to say!
I still have a 2000 MX5, and dare I say it, a Swiss-made 1966 4-door Corvair!

I was just visiting Penny Short, widow of Tony Short, and she has uncovered 3 Rover engines - 1 mostly complete, 1 for parts, and a third block. I expect these are late 60s and were for his 2000TC. Pics attached.

Do you know anyone in your club that might be interested? Please feel free to forward my contact info.

Otherwise I'm afraid they may end up being scrapped.

FABAC August Meeting - Wed Aug 18 - Carleton Park

  Let's get together for our August meeting at Carleton Park this Wednesday at 5:30. While Covid protocols have been relaxed (green phase) please be mindful that others are still wearing masks and continue to social distance.

  Our event jar is lacking car runs/events for September so we will need ideas and volunteers to take these on.

The Great Cycle Challenge

Afternoon social by the River

      What a great FABAC day it was. We had a great turn out of cars that showed up for Carol and John's event. It started off with a number of in-towners meeting at Brookside Mall and being led by Phil O to the Quac Snak Shak at the Mactaquac Marina where this group met up with the out-of-towners for ice cream and snacks. It of course led to the usual "chin wag" session that FABAC members are well known for. After everyone seemed satisfied with the treats and conversation we were led off by Carol and John to their beautiful home on the Mactaquac head pond. 

      Here we were treated to an afternoon social by the river with a  wonderful warm welcome and such wonderful hospitality. We were even treated to delicious cherry cream cheese sandwiches and homemade squares. All this in a well shaded area with of course the wonderful cooling breeze off the river. A natural air conditioner that was much appreciated on such a hot day. So you can see Carol and John were terrific hosts and we thank them for putting on such a great event.  Oh yes, such an occasion deserves to be well recorded for posterity and Chris D did some fancy aerial recording of the event with his drone. Hopefully we'll see some pictures from that at some point.

      All in all, it was another wonderful day, with wonderful people and wonderful hosts. It doesn't get any better than that!
