Cancelled: Proposed Three Ferry Run for September 12th (weather permitting)

Cancelled.

This run is in doubt as the weather is not promising. In addition, Carol is feeling 'under the weather' so if the weather outlook improves, it would be nice if someone might step forward to lead the group. It's all well organized and summer is coming to a quick end.

 Start at Ramada Inn at  10am

Follow Route 105 to Route 2 (on highway for couple minutes)

 

Get off at Jemseg exit, turn right to Gagetown Ferry

Cross Gagetown ferry

Turn left and follow Route 102 to Evandale

Stop for lunch on patio at Evandale Resort

Cross Evandale ferry to Kars and follow Route 124 to BelleIsle ferry

Cross BelleIsle ferry to Ice cream at Bates Landing

Turn left and follow Route 850 around the end of the BelleIsle

Turn left and left again at Springfield

and then a quick right onto Route 695 at Springfield

Follow 695 back to Cambridge Narrows and  Jemseg 

Home by 105 or Route 2

UPDATE: FABAC Run to McAdam Station

We now have 14 people confirmed for the run to McAdam station on September 18. While this is fewer than the 15 I was looking for, I spoke with the organizer for the station who said that that would be acceptable.
I would like to continue to recruit some more people for this run. Supporting the station is certainly worthwhile, and this is the time of the year that can be most beautiful for our runs. If you would like to join us, please post a comment to this message.

At our meeting on Wednesday, I proposed a run to McAdam station. We can do it on Saturday, September 18, with rain date Sunday, September 19. We will leave from the Brookside shopping centre parking lot at 11:00 AM, arriving at the station at noon. They will give us a tour of the station and a lunch of homemade soup, sandwich and dessert. The cost will be $33.00 per person for the tour and lunch, tax included. If there are 20 or more, the cost drops to $28.00 per person.

We need to make reservations on the FABAC website. We should have a minimum of 15 people to make it worthwhile for them to do it. I need a show of hands by August 27. If  we have a minimum of 15, I will make the reservations.

Selling my Mazda Miata 1990

Holà to all members,
Some factors that cannot be controlled have forced me to sell my car. It was the first Mazda of this type and it’s been well cared for by the 3 owners. I put in a new battery last year and also a radio 2 yrs ago as Rita did not like my singing.
Oil changes etc done by me on the pit. Am asking $6500.
I can also store the car for this winter only.

Saturday at the Larry and Sandi's

If I had a single word to describe our day at Larry and Sandi's it would be "fantastic". If a physician were to prescribe a remedy to help us get back to some form of post pandemic normality it would be the day we had here. It was so so good to see friends, to be able to share stories, to laugh and joke and just to experience a fun part of life again. They provided us that opportunity and helped us heal.

We were greeted with open (non touchy) arms followed by the opportunity to play all kinds of wonderful games, great quizzes, there was nostalgic music and of course tasty food with no end to all of the desserts!

In addition to all this there were prizes awarded to those that participated in the many activities. The first prize winner Terry J chose the bottle of Heinlein/Byers award winning jam and the second prize winner David N won a bottle of the Heinlein/Byers award winning maple syrup.

You can see Sandi and Larry put a lot of thought and effort into making this event as "fantastic" as it was. It was very much appreciated and so very much needed.
