Another option for a run to Saint John

Ralph and Karen, our faithful Saint John members, are hosting a Homeport Homestage on May 3rd. This is basically a brunch and musical entertainment which should appeal to any FABACians who are itching to get rolling this Spring. The event consists of a brunch and what looks to be excellent award-winning musicians. Those interested in going might post a comment in case a group might want to travel together.
Lots more detail from Ralph below:

Homeport Homestages present Andy Brown and Ashley Condon.

Homeport Homestage folk music venue is presenting something different for the season finale with the ECMA Scatterlings concert on May 3rd.  This will be an afternoon performance again but with a buffet brunch on offer from noon until 1:30 before the music starts at 2:00.  The shows format may have changed but one thing is the same with the presentation of talented award winning musicians. This time around there will be two headline artists - Fredericton’s Andy Brown will share the stage with Ashley Condon from PEI appearing for her third time at Homeport.  Homeport owners Ralph and Karen Holyoke put this show together at the recent ECMA weekend in Charlottetown where they met with Andy and Ashley to hammer out a date from their very busy touring schedules.
If you have not heard Andy Brown this is the time.  He is a three-time International Songwriting Competition Finalist (2010, 2011, 2012, Folk/Singer-Songwriter Category) and has emerged a must-see performer on the Canadian and International music scene.  Andy's song ‘Ashes’ was featured in ABC's hit show ‘Rookie Blue’ in the fall of 2011, and helped shoot his sophomore album ‘False Alarm’ to #1 on  iTunes Canada and the top 10 in the same category on  iTunes USA. His music has since been featured on NBC, CTV, Global TV, Showcase, and CBC, and has earned him a slew of national and international songwriting awards and nominations
His new album ‘Tinman’ was released on April 2013 and features co-writes with some of Canada’s most renowned songwriters, including David Myles, John Angus MacDonald, Damhnait Doyle, and Tim Chaisson. Most recently, Brown completed his third visit to Australia in the past twelve months, as direct support for Australian Idol Winner Damien Leith’s national tour.
Raised between two potato fields on Prince Edward Island, Ashley Condon is like pecan pie – sweet and nutty –. Since her last visit to Homeport in 2013 her new album This Great Compromise has seen great success and Ashley has won audiences over with her larger-than-life stage presence and down-to-earth charm. Growing up on everything from old-time country to folk, blues and soul, her music resonates. The signature track is “Betty’s Song,” a tribute to Condon’s mother and a wistful lament over Condon’s inability, as a teenager to appreciate her mother’s strength and perseverance. And “I’m Going Home, Amen,” a rollicking gospel song about moving back to PEI and recently featured on the nationally broadcast ECMA Awards show.
The Homeport Homestage regulars know a good  thing when they see it on offer and half of the 50 tickets were snapped up the first day.   Show and Brunch $40,  Show only $20. For more information or to reserve tickets call Ralph or Karen at 672 7255 or email Music@homeport.nb.ca
