Bob E's report on the Carter House Turkey Dinner Run

What a day.  Having used up all the regular superlatives and adjectives for beautiful weather, great roads, gorgeous scenery, wonderful friends, and good food, here's the last few that fell out of the bucket when I upended it and banged on the bottom.
The sky was achingly azure with cottony puffs bringing some decoration to it.  The usually potholed roads were, thanks to the impending election,  smooth ribbons of asphalt loveliness winding through the forests and tranquil farms.......argh...I can't do it.
Eleven cars left the Fredericton area and followed John around the Kingston Peninsula.  And yes, the roads, sky, and scenery were that good.  An hour or so went by all too quickly and we rendezvoused with several other folks from both Freddy and Saint John as we parked near the historic Carter house.  After much chit-chat and pumping Ralph for details of the Austin Atlantic he'd just bought, we were ushered inside for a turkey dinner with all the fixins.  We filled the two rooms and left little space for others.
Eventually, with dinner out of the way, a short drive brought us to Tony Rickett's Winery for the usual short tour and tasting session.  Not content with all that, we continued following the river to the Westfield ferry where we met up with yet more FABACians putting the grand total to 16 cars for the day's run.   With the afternoon waning, but still warm and balmy, we headed back home on the 102. Except for Joe's Jag that is.  A cable fitting on the ferry's ramp had pulled his muffler free and while it was an easy fix ("Just kick here please.") he didn't want to risk the older road and took the highway.
A big thanks to John and Shirley Ann for arranging the outing and leading the gang.

Also, thanks to CAA and Sunbury Towing for getting us home from just south of Burton post the tragic death of my alternator.
