Are you a proactive or reactive LBC owner?

Several years ago at a FABAC meeting I asked the question, "How many of you, for example, lubricate your speedometer cable regularly and how many of you wait until you get tired of your speedometer needle flopping around from 40 to 50?"

Do you know how often your owner's manual says to replace or overhaul your master brake cylinder?

When was the last time you replaced your fuel filter?

My speedo flopped around since I bought the car on 2006. I finally replaced the cable a couple of years ago. Took the drivers seat out and chopped my hands up pretty good on sharp tin working on the back of the dash. But now have a nice steady speedo needle.
Haven't touched the master cylinder (yet).
Replaced the fuel filter two years ago.
Replaced the brake flex hoses, front and back, last year - easy job.
Replaced a dead fuel pump last year. Not difficult if you like fuel running up your arms.
Upgraded the alternator three years ago with an AC Delco unit. Easy job.
Oil, oil filter and grease are annual.

What's a speedometer? My odometer is digital and the speedo runs through a wire attached to a pulse generator bolted into the side of the transmission. Greasing a wire would serve no purpose. :-)
