St. George Tour Report

What started out as a rather cool and somewhat cloudy start to the tour soon turned into a wonderful top down driving day. Nine cars left Harvey led by John D in his recently upgraded Spitfire. John, as we all know, has the uncanny ability to pick almost perfect driving days for all the tours he puts on for us which are many! Not only did the weather improve but the roads he had chosen through Brockway, Rolling Dam, Elmsdale and finally to our destination St. George were in great shape and the scenery was splendid.

Once in St George we met up with the Holyokes and Daigles at the Birch Grove restaurant. Ralph H. brought his recently restored Jensen Healey (see John's pics). You have got to see this car in person. Ralph has done an excellent job in restoring it—absolutely stunning!

I believe it safe to say we all had a great meal at the Birch Grove. I can tell you my Fish Chowder and Fish and Chips were delicious. I would recommend the restaurant and my meal to anyone.

Once we finished our meals and had our usual after meal conversations we were off again. This time taking a different route home. We toured the back routes through Bocabe, Oak Bay, St. Stephen and back onto Route 3. The route was full of beautiful scenery with hardly any traffic so you could take it all in and really enjoy the relaxed ride. What a great way to spend a holiday! Again thanks to John for putting on yet another great tour. It was well planned and as important it was really well done!

Also, not one to let an opportunity go by I'd like to mention that we need more day tours. Our current tour plans are zero. Please, we need members to take on a tour.

Thanks,
Gary

Thanks for the nice comments re my Jensen. A special and rare beast that worked a treat all day.
A great day to run the LBCs. After Lunch the Fundy Area Crew took off by back roads towards Saint John. After several stops (sadly no room for ice cream after the wonderful lunch) to admire the St George Sculpture and garden center in Pennfield we landed at Lepreau Falls. Still full with spring run off the falls were very impressive. And then we doubled our numbers with the arrival of two MGBs from Saint John and Hampton. to top that, as we stood about yacking, a fellow walks up and announces he has an MGB for sale if anybody is interested With and asking low low price of $XXXX (information withheld) I immediately saw the prospect of a winter fix and flip. Stay tuned for details. A great day indeed
