The February FABAC meeting was held at McGinnis Landing and attracted a lively gathering of 31 members and guest. As per normal, all were eager to exchange the details of their lives since the last meeting which made for a room full of chatter and plenty of laughter.

Once dinner orders were placed, Prez Gary welcomed members. He spoke of a bit more detail on the July 25/26 PEI International Car Show. New information has it that there will be a grand prize of a trip to Europe in the People’s Choice Award category. Details of the big event are still rather sketchy and their web site is still not up and running. Watch our web page for developing news.

Curry reported that the Nova Scotia British car club (BATANS) is planning a tour through NB on their way to the Rexton British Car Show in early August. That tour will take them through Fredericton on their way up the valley. It is suggested that our club host an event to welcome them to the city. Please contact Curry with suggestions.

David N gave a brief update on recent web site activity and encouraged folks to send photos of themselves and their cars to add to the member registry on the site. This will enable new members to attach names to the faces they see at tours and meetings.

Gary encourages members to come forward with their ideas for the upcoming touring season. David S described a tour that they are planning to Newfoundland and Labrador for the Targa Newfoundland car rally from September 13-19. Vic and Heather are suggesting a tour to Kent Hills Wind Farm in Kent County. David R suggests an overnight tour to Deer Island / Campobello. A suggestion received at the January meeting would see us touring to McAdam to visit the train station. Keep the suggestions coming!

Jim and Lorraine have once again very kindly offered to host the very popular St. Patrick’s Day potluck at their home on Saturday, March 14th. Lorraine informs us that a key fob for a Mazda vehicle was found at their home after the Christmas party. No car or owner to go along with the key at the end of the evening?!?! Please call to claim.

Bob E had a wonderful surprise for us during the show-and-tell portion of the meeting when he unveiled a beautiful cake in honour of the 8th anniversary of the founding of the club (February 22, 2001). A rousing rendition of happy birthday to us was sung. The very delicious cake was adorned with the club crest. A “job well done” goes out to Bob for his very thoughtful gesture.

Because of the close proximity of the St. Patrick’s Day party to our usual monthly meeting date, the March meeting has been cancelled.
