The Official Report on the Lobster Run - May 21

While the weather may have been the culprit in the low turn out of British cars for our annual lobster run to Dumfries, it certainly did not dampen the spirits of the nearly 30 folks that attended this fabulous event organized by Steven W. Thank-you Stephen!
While the rain may have been the cause for many to use their non British automobiles for this tour, it did not deter several from bringing their LBCs, including the most determined, Jim B, who once again demonstrated his resolve by driving his MGB to this event—top down! Jim, you have been and continue to be our inspiration as were the others who brought their LBCs and non-LBCs.

The dinner as last year was exceptional! The lobster dinner was more than abundant and as you can imagine was  delicious. The desserts, which included too many varieties of pie to mention, were also  all deliciously home made. These folks know how to put on a church dinner. We're all hoping Stephen organizes this event for us next year. Oh yes, many thanks to the folks who put this all together. They once again did a wonderful job!

On the business side of it we decided on a few upcoming events:
  • If you are attending the British car event in Windsor N.S., (July 9-10) it appears local hotel/motel accommodations are already booked. There are still lots of rooms available at the King's Edge dormitory located on site for the event. Please check out the organizers site for more information related to this: http://www.britishmotoringfestival.com/   There is also indication there may be available accommodations in nearby communities.
  • Our next meeting will be held at the Moonlight Inn, on the old TCH not far from this Dumfries. More detail to follow.
  • Many members showed an interest to return to the McAdam train station for a supper meal as our next tour event. Gary A. will organize and will forward the details.
  • Did you know that Tim Ross has 2 MGBs in various stages of restoration, and has a collection of knowledge of this marque that rivals most that I know? He continues to research and find items for the MGB that are most useful including a new fold down wind block that significantly reduces the wind buffeting when driving top down. I know this first hand as on Tim's recommendation I purchased one and found it to be more then what I expected. He has found many simple modifications and performance mods including one for those OD models that will properly indicate when the car is in OD. Tim has a wealth of knowledge on this marque and is a tremendous resource for us.
Please check out all the pictures of this event. They really do show the wonderful meal and great time we had at this event. I'm sure all those that attended will tell you that it was a great meal and a great time.

 Thanks,
 Gary
