Aaaaaarrrrrggghhh! — AGAIN!

So the new engine is in and tuned to perfection, the new transmission is smooth as silk and the sun is shining.  Off I go for a little spin. Not every drive finishes as you intend.

Suppose the great unwashed membership of FABAC can write a story of how this photo came to be?  For those that do not know the spot, it in the middle of Simms Corner just around the bend from Reversing falls.

Well, Ralph, my guess is that the electrics quit completely, and of course, unexpectedly. How about a coil failure? Close? I'm going to stick with an electrical failure, although a clutch failure came to mind, but I think you would have been able to drive home without a clutch.
By the way, you seem far too calm about it, whatever it is. I would have been in a #@*&%**# mood.

Nope that was not the culprit The Price of Darkness did not find me this time David but you are right I was not able to drive home.

Ran out of Gas?? If not that I'll vote for a problem with the new clutch.

What nobody sees the police cruiser siting there lights ablaze.

What would you do with a brand new engine rebuild and five speed transmission?

OK. If this is what you are implying, then you are the first person I know who had to trailer his car home because of a speed violation — maybe double the posted limit? Ouch! Tell me it isn't so!

Ok That was a blatant red herring to be sure. No, the actual story, is after a nice drive around town I snapped a rear Axle when pulling away from the stop sign. Of course I did this in the middle of the most open and well traveled intersection in town and in the 20 minutes it took for the tow truck there was a dozen or more folks stop and offer help. Then the police arrived and made sure I was noticed. But there is a wonderful up side to all this. I now have to replace the complete differential with the one I had in reserve for the MGA trailer project. Turns out it is a much sought after low ratio gear setup (3.9 verses 4.3) that will really make this a great highway cruiser. And I had it under my nose all these years. Go figure.
Should be back on the road this weekend at a total repair cost of almost nothing.

Whew!
And congratulations on the wonderful work on the MGA.

Much better than what was going through my mind. I was visualizing you in the back seat of the cruiser in handcuffs. :~))

I'm not sure I like how this summer is shaping up. We've barely started and already we have two Bent Spoke awards.
