August Meeting Report

Last evenings dinner was fine as always.  The food there is pretty good, unfortunately the service could have been better.  It was slow, he forgot items and he mixed up a few orders.

Despite that, we had a lively time.

Our second visit to El Mariachi was again, a rousing success despite keeping the lone waiter on his toes.
With Joe out of the way for the evening, we presented Peter with this month's tie trophy for his outlandish 'Loony Tunes' tie.  Now we all want one.
Johanna gave a report on her ongoing ride for kids cancer.  She's collected a bunch of money on behalf of a local youngster who's been battling cancer for several years and is winning.

Stuff we did....
  • Ernst and John made a tour to and around the island.  We're all expecting more pictures and a story.
  • The outing to Stanley via Johanna and Bruce's place was a hit.  You can never spend too much time exploring old dusty barns.
  • The club had good visibility at this years Fred Rock.  We'll have to plan something better for next year.
  • The recent Stanley Fair was a BIG hit this month with a bunch of cars and (possibly) a new member. Yes Steve, we mean you.
  • And lastly, the Wednesday evening car shows are always well attended.
Stuff we're gonna do.....
  • The pot luck at Sandy & Larry's place is a huge hit and is coming up on the 13th of Sept.
  • Johanna is organizing a King's Landing run.
Next month's dinner will take place at the Hilton (Pickle Jar), hopefully outside on the veranda.

I would like to thank Rob for mentioning my Great Cycle Challenge on the FABAC page, but wish to clarify that while Isaac Jewett has been my inspiration for four years, the funds raised do not go to him, but to the Sick Children’s Hospital Oncology Programme.
If you would like to support my efforts, please go to: www.GreatCycleChallenge.ca where you can read about my ride goals and my eight year history with this fundraiser.
This year to date, I have raised $2955 so far, and cycled 302 km.
The Challenge continues until September 1, 2025.
Thankyou, Johanna
