Tomorrow, I take on my 8th Great Cycle Challenge to raise funds for the Sick Kids Hospital Oncology programme. Over the years I have ridden 4289 km and, with your help, raised $17,001.
Why do I do it? Because in Canada, about 1700 children are diagnosed with cancer each year.
I have been incredibly fortunate to have received exceptional medical care during my own experience with cancer, and I want children to benefit as I have. I want children going through cancer to have the chance to bike along the river and through parks as I will be doing. I want them to have a chance to grow up and enjoy a full life.
Over the month I will report daily on face book and weekly on FABAC. There will be hard days, and amusing stories. Please journey with me, and if you would like to donate, please go to:
www.GreatCycleChallenge.ca, click on donate, and enter my name. Thank you for your support.
Addendum: On that page you will find an update on my ride hero Isaac, who after three years of intensive treatment is now a cancer-free thriving 14 year old, playing soccer four time a week.
Thank you,Johanna
