A Nice Little Trip to St. Andrews by the Sea
Carolyn and I took advantage of the perfect top-down weather to drive to St. Andrews on Sunday. Strolling around downtown we met Michael and Valerie D, and at another point Curry and Sherry A. Carolyn and I had a fabulous prime rib meal at the Niger Reef Tea House. The drive back was wonderful as we used the last of the daylight and gradually lower temperatures. Great day!
On the way, I did some adjusting of the ignition timing, and as I did, I wondered who in the club might know how to do this with some real precision. With electronic ignition and a modified engine, original specs are of no value to me. The advice to drive it, adjust it, drive it, etc. suggests that one should know what to be listening to and watching for. Any experts out there? Or is there a dynometer in Fredericton where they can take the guess work out of the process?

Gary's Report on the British Motoring Festival
Our small group of 6 vehicles made their way to Windsor on Friday from 4 separate directions. Curry and Sherry, John and Shirley Anne drove in from a week's travel covering Cape Breton. Bob and Diane Earl drove and ferried in via the Bay of Fundy ferry, Gary and Barb traveled partially with David via route 104 and then down through the Rawden Hills and finally topping it off Bob and Donna Grant joined us Saturday driving in from Kentville. So while our numbers were small our resolve to get there coming from all directions made for some great travel dialogue. Bob and Diane had a spectacular time crossing on the ferry so much so they traveled back the same way and intend to do it again next year. Curry and Sherry with John and Shirley Anne has great stories of their almost week long trip to Cape Breton and the rest of us seen great scenery on our travels. Joe Hine attended as well and while not with British car brought his abilities and loaned a hand with parking all day on Saturday.
Do you think Vic and Heather might be buying one of these?!!! ;-)

British Motoring Festival Report from Bob E.
Three groups made their separate ways to Windsor. Two cars headed off early in the week to visit Cape Breton prior to attending the festival. Two more cars set out early Friday to spend the day droning along an endless stretch of boring highway, and one lone LBC set out downriver following the 102. This stretch of road needs no introduction and lived up to its reputation, providing an hour and a half of pure driving joy under warm and sunny skies.
SWMBO and I were disappointed that no one had joined us at the ferry terminal as we waited to cross to Digby. We had thought that some of the Saint John folks would be there. It was their loss as we enjoyed an entertaining and relaxing cruise across the Bay of Fundy. The old road was taken north towards Windsor and was gorgeous. The traffic was light and the backdrop of the north and south mountains bordering the Annapolis river and Digby basin was spectacular. I was reminded just how gorgeous the Annapolis Valley was as we motored along.

Bob E's plan to travel by Ferry on Friday
I'll be taking the ferry from St John to Digby on Friday and Sunday. It leaves St John at noon and arrives in Digby around 3:00 in the afternoon. It's a leasurely two hour drive along the shore to Windsor from there. This will put one at the show grounds in plenty of time for the evening's meet and greet. On Sunday the ferry is less convenient, leaving Digby at 4:00 PM. The cost for a two way ticket with one car and two passengers is...wait for it...(gulp!) $340! However I personally don't mind the cost since I figure it will save me $150 worth of gas, and I just like ferry travel. We can pretend we're on the Dover to Calais ferry and if a Mini joins us it'll be an 'Italian Job' recreation. You should book a reservation at

I'll be leaving my place in Burton at 9:00 AM and taking the 102 down to St John. Folks wishing to join me should call me at 357-1183 to arrange a rendevous. Anyone who arrives at my place before 9:00 will be fed breakfast. So far, the weather looks fine.

Gary and Barb's Plans for Travel on Friday
Barb and I are planning to leave this coming Friday morning (July 8) for the British Motoring Festival in Windsor NS. Our plan would be to travel to Windsor via Halifax on Routes 104, 102 and 101 allowing us to travel primary roads all the way.
If others would like to join us we would leave Fredericton from the Ramada Inn North Side at 9:00am Friday morning. We would stop for 15 minutes at the Tim Hortens, Irving Stop in Salisbury. This would allow us to meet up with any Saint John cars that may want to accompany us, to gas up, have a bio break and have a coffee/tea.
We are also going to have a quick picnic lunch stop at a scenic rest area near Debert Nova Scotia on Route 104. We have stopped there before and it has always been a nice little area for a rest and a picnic. There are no restaurant facilities there so you will have to pack a lunch or pick something up at our earlier Salisbury stop where there is a Tim Hortens and a Subway.
This should put us into Windsor around 4:00pm. This should allow for any downtime or running around that needs to be done prior to the first event of the BMF which would be the Friday evening reception starting 7:00pm at the Kings Edgehill School for registrants only.
I understand there is a group that may be traveling to Windsor via the Digby ferry from Saint John which sounds very exciting. For those of you that would like to travel via land and would like to accompany us please let me know so I know how many to expect at the Ramada Inn rally point on Friday morning.
