Usually, runs in the rain are warm and damp forcing folks to continually wipe the insides of their windscreens. Today it was just cold and rainy, forcing everybody to resort to their regular cars. Sandra and Larry had ditched their Triumph at the rendezvous and scammed a ride with the Crumleys leaving one lone LBC to lead the pack. Cocooned in a new (and watertight!) top with the heater warming the cabin I led all of two cars down the 102 towards Saint John. The road seemed to be a mess of shattered pavement and frost heaves which made the trip down less than enjoyable. We met up with a few others in Saint John and were finally joined at Lily Lake by Terry and Kim from the city.
Lunch at the Pavilion was excellent (which is why we go) and afforded the chance to spend a few hours chatting.

Afterwards, Gary led most of the folks on a short tour around
the lakes before heading home on the quick highway 7. Ever the
hardcore, I put my top down and headed back up the 105. I was
determined to enjoy at least a little bit of true LBC driving despite
the rain. I was rewarded with dry roads, an overcast but rainless sky
and it just seemed to be much more pleasant with the top down. The
pavement didn't even feel as broken and pockmarked. Maybe the sensations
brought on by having the roof open masks the bumps?

Thanks for organizing this event Bob. While the weather may not have been the best, your determination to go anyway proved best and we had a great get together and dinner at Lily Lake in Saint John. It was also great to see Terry and Kim again.
Thanks,
Gary and Barb
