Notes from March 18th FABAC meeting

An estimated fifteen members gathered at Isaac's Way Restaurant for our March meeting/eating.
In Gary's absence, David N conducted a short meeting.
  • Herb W was on hand to outline his suggestion for a run to the Atlantic Motorsport Park on a race weekend. Here is information from a follow-up email:
With the help of David Charters, I contacted Race Director, Debbie Miller and she gave me a list of this Summer's race weekends. In consultation with Gary who knew the dates for FABAC's summer events, we chose the August 23 race weekend.
The plan is to have a casual day trip from Fredericton to Truro on Aug 22, utilizing off TCH roads and arriving in Truro in time for an evening dinner and libations. Am investigating hotel/motel prices and will provide rate information later. ( Probably Best Western Glengarry) as it is typically the race preferred overnight. I will try to get improved rates.
Debbie advised we can have a display area for our cars near Turn 3 and permit lapping on race day between races. I have requested info re entry rates for us.
Return to Fredericton Sunday as a group or individually.
Plan to invite some of the 'old ' racers from our area to join us if interested.
More information on our site as I becomes available.

  • Two events coming up organized by the Foreign Auto Club:
The 2015 Radical Speed Sport at the Moncton Coliseum April 17, 18, 19
The ShowShine June 20th at Rotary St-Anselme Park
  • Since membership in the Foreign Auto Club is free, and since all Foreign Auto Club members receive regular notices of events by email, David recommended that FABAC members interested in those events join the club. http://foreignautoclub.ca/
  • Johanna recommended that we make a run to Dumfries Maples. In a follow-up email, she writes:
Bruce and I drove up to Dumfries Maples this morning for a wonderful pancake, sausage, and coffee breakfast and are going to suggest that the club come along next weekend for a repeat performance. Rather than try and co-ordinate a group for a mass pilgrimage up the hwy, we thought we could all meet there at eleven on Saturday March 28, 2015. The place is easy to find at 7520 Route 102.  506 575-8277.
Directions: follow the TCH west to Exit 253 (Kings Landing). Follow Route 102 North for 17 kms. It is on your left.

  • Kelvin reminded us of the now-annual St. Georges Day celebration in later April. More info later.
  • No location was selected for the next meeting, so we are open for suggestions.
Bob E was not in attendance, so these meeting notes are likely riddled with errors and omissions.
