On the Road Again - Terry J.

I was lucky enough today to get to drive a TR3, TR7, and a GT6.
Must be the first day of summer!

Fredericton Car Show - FrexRod 2018 (May 4 – 6) UPDATED

As I mentioned at Kelvin’s Saint George's Day gathering, I have received an invitation for FABAC members to participate in FrexRod 2018. The show will be held at the Capital Exhibit Centre May 4–6. Cars go into the building on Thursday evening, May 3rd, and are removed on Sunday, late afternoon on May 6th. FABAC cars will be grouped together with no entry fee required, assuming we don’t want our cars judged. However, any FABAC member who wants his/her car judged is welcome to do so by paying the entry fee. Owners are welcome to spend as much or as little time as they wish with their cars over the weekend.

Please let me know asap, either by comment on this page or to my Email (fdball@nbnet.nb.ca) if you would like to participate so I can advise the show organizers of our numbers. I’ll place additional information here as I get it, such as exact times for placing cars on May 3rd.

Important UPDATE: For FrexRod, move in is all day Thursday the 3rd and evening. Cars will be able to leave the building at 4:30 on Sunday the 6th.

Come on folks. I hope it will be more than just me there. This is a chance to show the community our cars.

St. George's Day Party report

      It's always about the food.
And the food was fine—of course. There was plenty of it, and a varied menu.

David chaired an ad hoc meeting and covered a few points which were immediately forgotten because the secretary neglected to bring his note book. (So the Webmaster has taken the liberty to add to Bob's report.)

  • Dwight announced that there will be a car show at the FREX grounds in two weeks to which we've been invited. FREXROD2018. More info in another posting. I (Bob E.) will harass folks to get their cars in and arrange for someone to be there during the busy hours to grab new members.
  • Mention was made of the very successful FABAC Breakfasts which Phil started and maintains.
  • Phil informed the group of the upcoming Great Race which will bring a great variety of interesting cars so near (Rothesay and Moncton) it would be a crime to miss it. Details are below in another post. Lots of interest in this one.
  • A brief discussion on the Moss-like challenge to encourage getting out and about with our LBCs. Phil is hoping to generate interest in this neat project. Ralph H. is a big supporter of the effort.
  • Members responded to Al's project to swap automobile magazines with a good pile available on a table. Breakfast folks may continue the exchanges.
  • David thanked our gracious host Kelvin (and Jennie) for yet again hosting this wonderful annual event.
  • We were happy to see Shirley Ann in attendance but miss John's regular participation in our events. Shirley Ann gave a brief update on John's progress. We wish him all the best.
  • Location for the next meeting will be arranged by a mystery member and announced here. (I would suggest that the breakfast group make the decision. - David)
  • With the business out of the way, David revealed his Morgan shaped 'cake' to celebrate its 50th birthday. The Morgan cake was big hit (and a tasty one) which raised the bar for other folks whose cars are also celebrating a milestone this year.
  • This was followed by a cake commemorating the Queen's 92nd birthday presented by host Kelvin.
  • The club thanks Kelvin for his continued generosity and Jennie for cleaning the floor of all food droppings.

Happy birthday!

Most of you know that I bought my Morgan +4 SS new in 1968. That makes it 50 years old this year. So, in celebration of that, I created a Rice Krispy 'cake' to share at Kelvin's fabulous St. George's Day feast. All ingredients were edible—except for a few toothpicks, but then what would a Morgan be without a little wood?! ;-) The frosting was butter cream, and six batches of Rice Krispy squares were required. The windshield is sugar glass. (The Forest Green food colouring gel is SO close to the actual colour of my Morgan that I may use it as touch-up paint!  ;-)

For the curious, here's a glimpse of the process:

The Great Race

As discussed last night, here’s a link to the route for the Great Race.  The group will be stopping in Rothesay at the Rothesay Commons for lunch on Friday June 29th after crossing the border at St. Stephen, then on to Moncton for overnight.  The group will be returning to Moncton from Halifax as guests of the Atlantic Nationals.

Pancake Lunch Report

It seems that we always have gorgeous weather for the first run of the season.  The annual (many/most(?) of our runs are becoming annual affairs) drive to Dumfries was as expected.  While cool with a chilly breeze, the sunny skies and bare roads were a nice change from snow and ice covered trails.
The maple syrup was flowing and we were told that it's been a pretty good season so far.   It was also nice that the ground was still frozen to keep the driveway from becoming a muddy bog.
Thanks to Dan for organizing the day's outing.

Magazine project

If anyone has any unwanted "Classic + Sports Car" magazines at home, would you bring them to Kelvin's party.
I would like to organize a sharing with other members.

Thank you

Sue's Jaguar for Sale!

Hi David,
I see John and Alex have been in hospital. Please pass on our regards and best wishes.
We are moving down to Grand Bay Westfield and we don't have room for all our cars (4) and I am very reluctantly having to sell Sue's XK8.   So I thought I'd put it up for sale to the FABAC crowd before I put it anywhere else, to make sure it has a good home.  It's a 2004 model,  4.2 L  V8, with only 107,366 kms on it as of this writing.  MVI is valid until September August this year, not taxed as we only tax our Jags for the summer anyway.  Car is in excellent condition as you know and has been dutifully pampered, (as are all BBCs) never driven in the rain, let alone snow!  I am asking $17,500 for it but am open to sensible offers.
Attached are some pictures, I can send more if you need them, and would appreciate you putting this up on the FABAC site.
If you need any more info please let me know.
Thanks,
Paul

Pancake Lunch NEXT Sunday!!!

YUM! YUM! YUM!

I have set up the run to Dumfries for a pancake lunch and to see the sugarbush for Sunday, April 15. We are due there at 1:00 PM so I think we should plan to meet at Brookside Mall and leave at noon. I would like people to let me know (email or phone 459-0282) if they are going by Saturday, April 14 so they know how many to expect.

Remind everyone that they operate on CASH ONLY.

Dan
