Something IMPORTANT in common

These two cars have something in common that you may not have noticed immediately. Neither of them has a front license plate. Today, I received from a very reliable source — John D. — who received the information from a very reliable source, word that the RCMP has been instructed not to stop or ticket any New Brunswick vehicle for not displaying a front plate.

YAY!
Two related rumours:
  • Seasonal and Antique plates may be discontinued.
  • Possibly, we may be required to turn in the extra plate. ( That makes very little sense to me for a variety of reasons, not the least being these license plates don’t last very well anyway and it would be nice to have a spare.)

I think it is daft, and can only believe that whoever came up with the idea is a habitual drunk driver, who wants to lessen his chances of being ticketed. Johanna, who thinks we should be supporting our police officers rather than making their job more difficult.

after catching a severe finger wagging at a local spot check last summer I finally installed a front plate on my MGA (14 years overdue) and our Audi Wagon ( 3 years overdue) only to have the front plate eliminated a few short months later. Hopefully reversible with no permanent damage. All said I have heard from Service NB that if you received a front plate it will be required to stay on the car.
