John Bowles receives life award

John Bowles recently received the Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada (VARAC) life membership in acknowledgement of his long-standing  membership in the organization and a distinguished involvement in Canadian historic sports car racing.

Founded in 1976 and based in Ontario, VARAC is the largest club of its kind in Canada. John was its founding secretary-treasurer. VARAC has more than 200 members, mostly drivers of sports cars and sports racing cars like Jaguar, Ferrari, MG, Triumph, Austin-Healey, Lotus and Cooper.

John received his award at the recent Canadian Historic Grand Prix event at Mosport Park (now Canadian Tire Motorsport Park) near Toronto. Pictured (l to r) is Bob DuShane CHGP director, John, and Del Bruce VARAC president.

An interesting fact is that Bob Du Shane used to be the importer and agent for the Mini Marcos based in Lindsey ON. I believe he still has a red Mini Marcos but he may have sold it by now.I dont know if he sold the grown up version but it still stays on my wish list.
