Larry has committed us for the Stanley Fair for Saturday, August 20, with Sunday the 21st as rain date.
This has always been well attended with a good variety of our vehicles.

I seem to have misplaced my small black lunch cooler. The last I remember seeing was at our McAdam event on Friday. Several of us were having lunch under the shaded area by our parked cars. Does anyone remember seeing it or maybe someone picked it up?
At the July meeting there was also discussion of possible runs to Owl’s Head Museum in Maine and doing a wine tour. These will need further research.
DanMany thanks to Dan and Susan for leading a great day tour to McAdam. The drive to McAdam was terrific, with wonderful country scenery, well maintained roads (yes there are still a few in NB) and great weather. As can be seen from John's photos, we had a great turnout for the event including newbies to our club, Gordon and Dorothy A. with their Miata MX5. We hope to see more of them in the future. Our long time friends Jim and Ellie also joined us for the day. It was so good to see them both. We shared great memories. We hope to see more of them as well.
There was some discussion at the monthly meeting this evening about a possible trip to see the racing at AMP near Shubenacadie. Some information about race dates follow.
Race #3: Aug. 21st, Race #4: Sep. 11th. Three Hour Endurance Race: Oct.2nd.
Practice and qualifying start before 9:30AM with first race between 10:30-11:00Am and usually ends by 5:00PM.
I’ve spoken with Gerald Elliott and he is open to giving us a tour of his shop in Enfield. He said that their heavily modified Cortina might be racing in the last couple of races.
To catch the days racing I would suggest staying in Truro (about a 4 hr. drive) and on to the track the next morning (45 min.) for a day of racing, then to Enfield for dinner and a shop tour with Gerald.
From Enfield back to Truro is about 40 minutes where we could stay the night and then plan an interesting route home or pick our own way back.
Those interested please chime in.

Larry H. passes this along stating, "It would be a nice, fairly short run and Route 8 is in good shape."

Well I finally had it with replacing the new stabilizers. That are made with a circuit boards tech Knowledge. I am using the old fashion breaker points. Ernst had ones for an MG that he had some in his shop. I had to work on my speedometer and replace voltage stabilizer that failed. So I created three different adapters to use my three new voltage stabilizers work in Triumph . An I now will carry for back up. I also have will have them if anyone else should require one. I replace three of the new circuitboard types in the last two years. Both Ian and Ernst said I will not have to work on this part again for 40 years. Here’s hoping. Click for larger view.
Cheers,

Once again, we'll be having our monthly meeting at Carleton Park for 5:30. The weather forecast is calling for a beautiful day so bring your picnic supper and enjoy the beautiful weather and the beautiful scenery of the park.
Just thought I would share what progress I am making on my 1978 Spitfire project.
The following pictures show the frame which has been treated for rust, primed and painted. The attaching parts have also been scrubbed clean of rust, tar, grease and oil and have been sprayed with a liberal coating of black enamel.
Many new parts have been installed including bearings, seals, springs and all the usual steering and suspension consumables. All of the brake parts have either been reconditioned or replaced. The rims were also given the treatment and a new set of tires installed.Click photo for larger view.
The task of redoing the brake, gas and vent lines is well underway.
With the frame almost complete there are only four more categories of work to be dealt with:
Tell me what you think and, by the way, if you have a service manual for a 1500 Spitfire and are willing to part with it, I am interested.
Beth and I had a fun trip to Windsor. We travelled with Ralph and Karen Holoke. They had their Jensen Healey and Beth and I took the TR6. No car troubles but the Digby ferry was pulled out of service for urgent service/repairs so our plans to visit Annapolis Royal were dashed.
This was only our second time at the Windsor British Car Festival. It was a much abbreviated version of the event because of covid but it was enjoyable never the less. Without exception, all of the entrants were quite proud of their “baby” and very willing to talk at length about their time with their car(s). It was interesting to hear person after person say they have more LBCs at home—either running or in some state of restoration. Still, some said that the one they had was their one and only Brit car ever—and these were people of retirement age. It's never too late to start!
The valve cover races were something I had heard of but, until this, had not seen an event. The care and attention to detail the participants took was almost excessive. The level of competition was elevated to Silverstone track levels! Lots of pride on the line there.
Our own club cars drew lots of attention. Ernst was kept busy answering the “what is it?, where did it come from?, and did they make more than one? “ types of questions and John at times had crowds of people interested in the GT Spitfire. Actually, at one point it looked as though he had a working pit crew. You will have to ask John about that. Ralph had lots of interest in his Jensen Healey. Ralph was one of two with Jensons there. The other was a CV8. I have to apologize here, as my pics of those two cars did not turn out. Both are worth looking up if you have not seen them before. I met another couple of club members there, Currie and his partner with their very fine Healey.

There were so many cars there it would be too much to try to show each and every one. So, I have included just a sampling of the many – ones that I do not see that often. Lots of 'eye candy'.

Ernst and I just arrived back at 7:30 Sunday evening. We drove 1250 miles around NS. We had a great time. Here are a few photos from the Car Show in Windsor. I have taken more but this will let everyone see a good time was had by all. Oh yes, there were 120 cars there this year.
All the best
John
