Welcome to the FABAC March Meeting

Here we are! What to do? I have a suggestion: Let’s share our thoughts, experiences, plans, etc. by either clicking on “comments” or sending it to me to post for you. (My email address is at the very bottom of this page.)

I’ll begin with “My Plan”. Click on comments to read it. Why not add something while you’re there?

My plan for this Spring and Summer is to get my old red 1962 Morgan 4-seater on the road. It was driven into my garage to where it has sat unloved for several years. I’ll begin by getting it running and then do only what is needed to get it licensed and inspected. So, fuel pump, voltage regulator, some distributor stuff, clean petrol tank and I’m hoping good to go. Then all it needs is some interior trim work which I can pick away at liberty. Look for me with a smile on my face in Ole Red on a road near you some day this driving season.

Bob E here,
The Jag will be on the road...so I have spoken. The engine is a couple of bolts away from being finished, I have the new licence plate, and insurance will kick in on April 1.
In the mean time I have a pile of 'stuff' in the basement that will eventually (quickly?) become a new bathroom. I'll then be able to lay down the hardwood floor throughout the entire house. The project will cascade into the new 'parlour' (That's Dianne giggling in the background over my insistence in calling it the parlour) where the antique roseback parlour chairs will go along with the beautiful antique lamps with their bell silk shades.
(Takes a deep breath)...I'm now rewiring the garage lighting for LED lamps from Princess Auto (thanks for the tip Kelvin).
Assuming I don't succumb to the virus because I went to breakfast yesterday, it'll all be done in a month or two.
Bob.

KP here
I am still pushing on with the Land Rover but have just got a new toy. I now have a 4 post lift in my garage ,looked for one secondhand but ended up buying new. If any club member needs to work under their car for exhaust ,gearbox ,etc this year then your welcome to use the lift to make life easier.

My plan is to beat the crap out of the 74 Jensen Healey. Oh well that is how I feel today after the little blue bugger defeated me with the last two rear suspension bushings yesterday that would not move for all the toilet paper in Costco. The first 6 bushings are all located on the actual trailing arms and could be put on a 10 ton screw press and pushed out easy peasy. these two are inboard, out of easy reach, on the actual differential. So after yesterdays battle I am going to drop the complete Diff and axle out of the car and get it on the bench. will be easier to swing a bigger hammer at them.

Parts are in hand so then comes the engine bay clean up with new wires, cooling hoses, Manifold heater hoses, Heater box hoses, (oh so many hoses) and then R & R any gaskets and oil seals I can reach without dropping the engine.

That just about does it and will be ready for the spring time drives. The MGA is within sight of the door and will be out ASAP also.

Ah, David, very good thread!

I have spent some time this winter pulling all the fuel hoses off the Westphalia, replacing them with new as well as new fuel injectors. (much simpler than that damn smart car). I have also replaced a leaking 25k old waterpump. Terrible job on a "wasserboxer". I've run it in the garage, and no leaks from anything, so I"m looking forward to getting it out of the garage for some road time.
I have also pulled the suspention off the mini on the right side to replace a $2 oil seal in the transmission that was leaking a lot. I have fiddled with the various wiring issues and have everything working. It will be for sale as soon as I can get some good photo's and list it. I have been working on fitting a new aluminum bonnet to the Westfield. Bit of a job, as it is not nearly as flexable as the fiberglass and it needed some big ass holes made in it for the carbs. Getting there. It was working well when put away after figuring out the alternator issues. I have also replace the front ball joints on that.
I have a few parts from the YT in the garage and I made a jumbo version of Kelvins electro static rust remover and I've been derusting everying in the garage. The latest was a 1948 licence plate! Bare metal now. Works like a damn. If you use enough current, it takes paint off as well!
Regretfully, I'm working on the bathroom today.\

LOOKING FORWARD TO GOOD WEATHER. Even if we are still on restrictions, driving is something you can do.

Lots of things to do on the Little Blue Car. I’m in the middle of replacing the really cheap LED driving lights installed last year. I'm trying to figure out why I have no power to the wire that ran them last year. It is usually live when the ignition is on. Mr. Lucas and I are not on the best of terms right now. I have a new wiper switch sitting on the roof. For some reason it hasn’t installed itself. There’s new LED headlight bulbs to go in too, then aim them correctly. When I get the rear of the car up I have to Locktite all the nuts in the 4-link coil over suspension. For some reason, they all loosened last summer. Could it be our terrible roads? I have all the parts to install a new hose system for my remote air filter, just have to re-work the outlet pipe on the filter canister. As well, I have two very low profile SpinTech mufflers salvaged from the green/black v6 MGB (known as Kermit) that I parted out last year. I’ll try to figure out if I can replace the two Thrush glasspacks with these. If so, it may reduce the exhaust noise a bit as well as increase ground clearance. There's some fiberglass work to do on the air dam as well. I also have a Costello Frontline front suspension kit to install but I don't know if my ambition level is up for it this spring.......perhaps a winter project.

A red 1962 Morgan 4 seater sounds like a wonderful project. Johanna

Bob again,
I did a basic lighting trial with my camera set on manual and found that the LED lights put put the same as a 4 tube fluorescent for about a quarter the power used. The part number is 51011 and they come two to a box for $60. It's a great deal.

With most restaurants offering take out only, I suggest we grab our respective favourites, and meet somewhere for breakfast, lunch or dinner. As long as we keep our distance it might make for a fun outing. Spring is pretty much here and it's getting warmer.

Kelvin, I still owe you 9 bucks for the lights (tax).

I ordered bushings for the front sway bar of my Alfa. Today I discovered that the boys at DiFatta where I have bought parts in the past did not ship to my home as I requested. Instead, they shipped them to Shiretown where they sent them in the past.

BUGGER!

Anybody have a great idea how to get them from Houlton?
